If the allegations are true, threats of violence must be taken seriously and there should be accountability for those actions.
However, as more information comes to light, I believe another important question deserves attention: Why was this veteran seeking help, and why did he feel he was being denied care?
Veterans should never resort to threats, but we also shouldn't ignore what may have happened before a person reaches that level of frustration and desperation. Was there a misunderstanding? A gap in services? A delay in access to care? Were appropriate resources offered?
These questions are not meant to excuse behavior. They are meant to help us understand whether there were missed opportunities for intervention and support.
As a community, we can support accountability while also demanding transparency and examining whether our systems are meeting the needs of veterans who turn to them for help. Prevention begins long before a crisis reaches a breaking point.

What an incredible day at the 1st Annual Brownsville MST/PTSD Symposium.
Together, survivors, veterans, family members, clinicians, advocates, and community leaders came together for meaningful conversations, shared resources, and a renewed commitment to healing and support.
This event was a powerful reminder that no one should have to carry the weight of trauma alone. By creating space for honest dialogue and connection, we strengthened our community and helped break the stigma surrounding MST and PTSD.
Thank you to our partners at Veteran Females United, our speakers, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and every attendee who helped make this event a success.
We are grateful for the impact made and look forward to future collaborations as we continue building stronger, more connected communities.
💚 Strong. Seen. Served.

This past Friday, June 12th also recognized as Texas Women Veterans Day. Our ED was surprised & honored with our USA 🇺🇸 flag which was flown over our state capitol and a certificate for her USAF service and unwavering community advocacy from Janie Lopez State Representative HD37 at the 1st annual MST/PTSD Symposium Circle of Arms & Veteran FemalesUnited hosted together.

This recognition isn’t just about her, though. It’s about the family and friends who hold space for her, quiet her self-doubt, and lift her up when she’s down. It’s about the volunteers, partners, and community members who believe in the mission of Circle of Arms and show up time and time again to serve others. No recognition is earned alone. Every life we’ve touched, every veteran we’ve supported, and every challenge we’ve overcome has been possible because of the people who walk beside us. For that, we’re deeply grateful. 💚🙏🏼✨ advocacy

People often see the events, outreach posts, and success stories, but behind every moment is a team working tirelessly to make it happen. A day in the life of our nonprofit means answering crisis calls, connecting veterans and families to resources, stocking our food pantry, attending meetings, advocating for those who feel unheard, and showing up wherever the need exists. It’s not always glamorous, and the work doesn’t stop at 5 p.m., but every life touched reminds us why we keep going. Thank you for allowing Circle of Arms to serve this community; one conversation, one resource, and one act of kindness at a time. 💚

We know the challenges of moving from one state to another, the feeling of being overwhelmed, lost, and searching for resources. We’re so glad to have been able to help our sis in arms with our food pantry. You might be seeing her volunteering with us as well! 💚💯🇺🇸

This summer in Brownsville is looking bright! ✨

Look at the amazing speakers and panels we have set up to bring their knowledge, experience, and compassion to the MST/PTSD Symposium June 12, 2026. We don’t want to say this but you might have FOMO if you don’t show up! 🤩

Bringing safe spaces and meeting survivors where they’re at is why we do what we do! 🩵

This has been a long time vision of ours and we’re grateful to have such amazing partners. 💯💚
