You can now schedule urgent food and hygiene pickups for Thursday, October 8, and Friday, October 9, through our appointment link below.

Please bear with us as we learn this new process and work through any hiccups. Before choosing your date and time, please read all the details and guidelines on the scheduling page.

Here are a few :
-For Bexar County residents and surrounding rural communities.
-At least 14 days since your last pantry visit.
-Cancel if you cannot attend.
-limiting to 16 appointments per date or dependent on food availability. Subject to change daily

📢A difficult community update. 😞

For the time being, Circle of Arms will no longer be able to hold our monthly mass food distributions through the Grocery Rescue Program.

After our last distribution, we shared a photo explaining the ripple effect that happens when a large number of people register and don’t attend. It wasn’t meant to shame or lecture anyone, it was meant to show why showing up, or simply letting us know you can’t, matters.

Grocery rescue food often comes to us very close to its expiration or best-by date, giving us a small window to safely distribute it. We also have specific guidelines we must follow. The food has to be accounted for and tracked, so it isn’t as simple as taking leftovers and dropping them off here and there. When many registered households don’t show, that creates a real challenge for the organization responsible for that food.

Someone chose to report my post to the Food Bank. Although we do not believe the reason the food was discarded violated the guidelines we are required to follow, the result is that our participation in the Grocery Rescue Program has been temporarily discontinued.

We’re disappointed and frustrated, not simply because of what happened to us, but because one complaint now has a ripple effect on many families in our community who relied on these monthly distributions. Disabled veterans, seniors on fixed income, students barely making it, and families trying to navigate the increase of food costs and life transitions.

Could we have just not made the post? Absolutely. But when something impacts our ability to serve our community, we believe in addressing it. Our intention was education and accountability, not shame.

📣 Good News : Our Food & Essentials Pantry is NOT closing. We will continue operating our daily pantry by appointment until further notice and doing everything we can with the resources available to us.

If you would like to help us keep our pantry stocked during this transition, we are grateful for donations of nonperishable food items or monetary contributions that can be used to purchase food for the families we serve.

We may have lost one resource, but we have not lost our commitment to this community. We will continue to smile 😊 and just keep swimming, swimming, swimming . 🐟

We don’t simply remember September 30th as Vanessa Guillén Day. We advocated. We marched. We united others. And we continue to honor Vanessa’s memory by standing up, speaking out, and advocating for those who need us most.

Her story sparked a movement. Her legacy keeps us moving forward. 💜🕊️

We stand with “Jane Doe.”🩵

The allegations coming out of Cornell University are deeply disturbing and another reminder of why survivors must be heard, supported, and given access to a thorough and trauma-informed investigation.

The criminal investigation has now been reopened and is expected to be presented to a grand jury. We support a complete examination of the evidence and accountability wherever the facts lead.

Survivors should never have to fight louder simply to be heard.

At Circle of Arms, we will continue standing against sexual violence and advocating for systems that put survivor safety, dignity, and justice first. 💯

Our hearts and prayers go out to this young airman’s family, she was from Boerne, Tx. The details that have been released so far raise concerns that this may involve violence against a female service member. We will keep this story on our radar and await any updates. 💚
