The 29th Annual Rose Petroff Foundation Piano Competition, for primary and secondary level students, will be held Saturday, March 1rst, 2025 at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Petroff. Entries for the primary and secondary levels competitions must be postmarked by February 15th, 2025. An entry form is attached. Additional entry forms to the competition are available at RPFTX.ORG.
Each student must play one of my pieces as well as a contrasting piece by another composer.
There are now more than 250 pieces of music to choose from! The folio which includes “The Runner” is available from UMSL/Vivace Press (order from “[email protected]”) but the majority of works are available from Amazon.com. The newest folio is “Poems” which includes “Two Summers in Manassas”, “Four Sketches”, “Hollow’s Eve”, “Elegy”, as well as three jazz pieces, three blues pieces, “Four Clowns” and “Four Ghosts”, as well as two sonatas. The pieces are mainly for more advanced performers. Another folio, “Night Vigil”, includes twenty-one of Dr. Petroff’s favorite pieces including four new works. It is intended for intermediate piano students. “Sampler” includes three rhapsodies, three nocturnes, three scherzos and several other works including “March of the Yellow Pencils with Erasers.” “Book One” is intended for the beginner and includes the folios “More Than Slightly Weird,” “My Second Grade,” “The Street of Eternal Happiness,” and “Sights and Sounds.” “Book Two” includes fifteen pieces that are for the early intermediate level student. “Book Three” includes the “Complete Nocturnes” and “Complete Miniatures.” “Book Four” includes the “Complete Etudes,” “Complete Gospel Etudes,” and “The Complete Studies.” In addition, for the virtuoso student, there are two additional folios, “The Complete Rhapsodies” and “Selected Sonatas.” Highly motivated students may chose a movement from one of the sonatas.
