Healing Hearts Telethon While working as the main anchor at KABB FOX 29 News and juggling family life Karen Martinez was diagnosed with stage 3-breast cancer.

The Healing Hearts Telethon/Phone Bank, previously a gala, raises funds for the Karen Martinez Patient Assistance Fund at ThriveWell Cancer Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in San Antonio, Texas. Throughout this her vision was to establish the Healing Hearts Gala benefitting the ThriveWell Cancer Foundation – a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. While undergoing chemotherapy and multiple surgerie

s, and even after her passing, Karen has managed to raise more than $500,000 to help cancer patients with financial support for medical expenses, transportation to treatment, doctor’s appointments and much more.

100% of the donations from the Healing Hearts Gala go to the Karen Martinez Patient Assistance Fund at ThriveWell Cancer Foundation that provides assistance to those who are battling cancer in South Texas. This can be in the form of co-payments, transportation, or even gas to get to and from appointments.
