First and foremost, I am interested in supporting and helping where I can, my wife's big event this weekend anv beyond. She has devoted herself to being the best at anything in which she engages. And, I believe that given the differences that people in this world often have with one another, that an artform such as "bellydance" might just have the unexpected benefit of advancing however greatly or slightly, the cause of world peace. Karen's Karavan Studio has no doubt provided an opportunity for people living in very distant places to gain a greater insight into the culture of a very far away and ancient world that we perhaps could all profit from knowing more about.

The Historic and Design Review Commission last week authorized the city’s Office of Historic Preservation to seek a City Council resolution to initiate a landmark designation process for a 1½-story Queen Anne-style house at 403 Montana St., two blocks east of the dome.

Our sincere condolences to Mario Llano on the recent loss of his mother Roselea J. Llano. She is survived by her husband, Agustin Llano and her five children. Not only did she serve this community alongside her husband, she left our fellow Board Member of the Bowen Center, her extraordinary son, Mario. May she rest in peace.

NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCATION REGISTRATION POLICY UPDATE - SHARE WIDELY
Good Evening,

In December, the Neighborhood and Housing Services Department (NHSD) shared proposed administrative changes to the Neighborhood Association & Community Organization Registration Policy. These proposed changes were shared with all City registered neighborhood associations via email. The changes are required to address the following:

Update and define the process for registration requests involving overlapping registered neighborhood boundaries
Update and further define required minimum standards for registration of neighborhood associations

As you recall, additional feedback is necessary to inform our administrative policy changes. On February 10, staff will be discussing the neighborhood registration process with the Culture and Neighborhood Services Council Committee to gather policy direction and better understand how Councilmembers use the registry. Soon after this briefing, you will receive an invitation to participate in a survey asking your preference for providing input. City staff will use the survey results to develop engagement opportunities such as small focus groups, community input sessions, and one-on-one conversations.
