Early voting has already started for the May 2, 2026 election. Voters in many smaller municipalities in the area are voting, as well as people living in District 9 of the Alamo Community College District. There will also be elections to establish 3 new Bexar County Special Improvement Districts as well as to authorize taxation and purchase of bonds in numerous already established Bexar County Special Improvement Districts. These districts are slated for future development and usually have few eligible voters to actually vote.

Four members of the Actual Member project live within ACCD District 9 and though it is a little late our intention is to get the Actual Voter signs installed in their yards and to create a very small and exclusive run of stickers to commemorate their voting in this election.

The colorful stickers commemorating our voting in the 2026 primary election and primary runoff are here. Frequently the theme for the primary stickers is voting equipment. The stickers for these elections show a tray of mail-in ballots. The colors for the stickers of our partisan primary elections are in the least partisan colors I could think of: yellow for the primary and black for the runoff

Early Voting for the Tuesday November 4, 2025 election runs from Monday October 20, 2025 thru Friday October 31, 2025. Whatever it took to get each Texas constitutional amendment and each proposition on the ballot and whoever had the influence to get them on the ballot. It is now up to the people who actually vote to decide whether they will be approved or not.

In the next few days the Actual Voter signs will be appearing in yards. They are gentle encouragement for you and your neighbors to vote in every single election. Thanks for actually voting and thanks for all who participate in the Actual Voter Project including our volunteers who clean up the signs after each election.

Our municipal elections are officially non-partisan. The colorful Actual Voter stickers feature city themed images. The colors are inspired by the Spurs old fiesta colors. This year image is of the top of the Torch of Friendship. If you have any images you'd like to be considered for use or would like to create one please reach out.

As always the Actual Voter project neither affiliated with nor in support of any party, candidate or cause other than the cause of encouraging voting in every single election.

The open mayor’s race and races in all 10 City Council districts will appear on the May 3 municipal election ballot.

To participate in that election, you must be registered to vote by April 3. You can check your voter registration status here and register to vote here. Early voting runs April 22 through April 29 for the May 3 election.

Perhaps an even more important date to note in this election is June 7, when the runoff election will be held if no candidate takes at least 50% of the vote in the May election. A runoff is extremely likely in the mayor’s race, as more than a dozen candidates have filed to succeed Mayor Ron Nirenberg, who is termed out after eight years in the role.

The May 3 election ballot will feature the open mayoral race and all 10 City Council races, but some contests won't be decided until June.

Today is a good day to check your registration status. 2.1 million registered voters have been suspended. You can go to the state portal to check if you are one of them and take action to correct the records if you are on the suspended list.

May 28, 2024 Primary Runoff primer:

Early voting May 20 to May 24, 2024

Democrats county wide are choosing the Democratic nominee for the 73rd Judicial District and residents of County Commissioner Precinct 1 are choosing their nominee.

Republicans in the 23rd, 28th and 35th Congressional Districts are choosing their nominees for the November General Election.

Republicans in three Bexar County congressional districts choose nominees for November, while Democrats nominate a judge and county commissioner.
