Doom Forge VIII at Jester King Brewery was a massive success, and honestly one of the best weekends we can remember.

They had metal blasting all day, the sound of the forge ringing from our new friends Hammerson Co. , goats getting absolutely spoiled, classes and living history demos taught by our 501(c)(3) staff, and live steel battles that carried the energy well into the evening. The crowd was incredible, the vibe was perfect, and the whole day felt like what this community is supposed to be.

To our new friends at Jester King: from our staff to yours, thank you. Your team was welcoming, professional, and genuinely fun to work alongside. We can’t wait to come back and do it again.

The support and funds raised don’t just keep the lights on. They directly fuel our educational mission and help us expand what we can bring to the public, stronger programming, better encampments, and higher-quality living history experiences as we continue building as the best Viking Age living history organization in Texas.

Doom Forge VIII is here and Vinland Texas Vikings will be on site all day at Jester King Brewery!

Saturday, February 21st | 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM

Come step into a Viking Age living history encampment with hands-on education, craftsmanship demos, and handmade goods throughout the day. Between the chaos on stage, our reenactors will be roaming, interacting with patrons, and bringing the story to life across the festival grounds.

Live combat all day! We will be doing full contact live steel battles throughout the day all day!

If youre coming for the riffs, the beer, and the full Doom Forge experience - make our camp a must-stop.

That’s a wrap on our final weekend at the Kerrville Renaissance Festival 10th Anniversary. 🔥⚔️

For three weekends we turned a corner of the Hill Country into a Viking-age camp with steel ringing in the field, displays on the tables, storytellers by the hearth, and kids bartering for trinkets like little merchants in training. We fought, we feasted, we forged, we cooked, and most of all we taught about daily life, craft, warfare, and the real history behind the horns-and-hype version of “Vikings.”

To everyone who stopped by our encampment, asked questions, watched the battles, bought some handmade history, or let your kids jump into a demo: thank you. You’re the reason we haul tents, armor, and cauldrons across Texas. Every curious kid, every “one more question,” every “this was my favorite part of the festival” keeps our 501(c)(3) mission alive.

Huge thanks as well to the Kerrville Renaissance Festival crew for having us back for this milestone year and trusting us to help bring the village to life. And to our Vinland volunteers, fighters, hearth crew, merchants, roadies, and camp rats your sweat, bruises, and long hours made this happen. You earned every bit of it.

The fires at Kerrville are banked for now, but Vinland is already planning the next raids, contracts, and festivals for 2026.

Texas Viking Festival — Raid Complete!

The Texas Viking Festival has come to an end, and we’re heading home with full hearts (and very tired legs) after three weekends on the field.

Our scouting party and limited crew set up our raiding camp, taught classes, showcased historical items and hands-on skills, and brought the clash of steel to life with combat demonstrations for all who came to witness.

We were also honored to take part in the Yule Ceremony and to stand together for the burning of the Yule goat. A powerful moment, and one we won’t soon forget.

To everyone who stopped by camp, asked questions, learned something new, cheered us on, or shared a drink and a story, thank you. You made these weekends something we’ll remember.

Now we ride back to rest and recover before our next raid.

And… word from the scouts is promising. If King Frakka allows our return, we may yet establish a settlement and winter there long-term.

Camp is built. Shields are stacked. Time to rest before the storm.

After a long day of hauling gear, raising tents, and shaping our little corner of Vinland, the Vinland Texas Vikings encampment is officially ready for three full weekends of Texas Viking Festival.

📆 Practice Schedule Update!

Due to our annual meeting of our non-profit board tomorrow, most cities will not be holding training this week.

📍Kerrville will still be holding training at Lady Bird Johnson Park, Lady Bird Dr, Fredericksburg, TX 78624

🔥 With our event season ramping up, weekly trainings will be slowing down due to the majority of our members traveling to the various events we will be attending.
