Our colleges and universities reflect the low voter turnout across Bexar County and Texas. The student population at these colleges are our children and will be our leaders in the future, yet they are not motivated enough to vote. This is of great concern to me and to others as we see the constant chipping away of our rights and protections as individuals and as workers. Immigrants flee other countries, endangering their lives, to get to this country because they understand it is a Democracy, and there is a slight chance they might be able to have a safe and successful life here, yet we as voting citizens don't have that same vision.
Please contact your families and friends and urge them to vote early. Early voting is until Friday, March 1 at early voter centers, until 8 pm. And then on Tuesday, March 5, from 7 am to 7 pm.
