Congratulations to artist Jennifer Ling Datchuk for winning the United States Artists Fellowship! We are so proud of you and the artwork you make and contribute to the world.

From President of the USA Artists Fellowship Deanna Haggag: “Sometimes we need to dream up a different reality than the one we’re living in,” Haggag said. “I think what artists do is cultivate the world we should be in or a possibility for a different world. … I’m not saying that every artist is out here redefining how we live our lives, but I’m saying we need the arts at large to be able to do that.

“So to invest a little in artists, or to treat it like it’s not an important, dire profession to our overall health and wellbeing in this country is kind of ridiculous. And to reward creative practitioners is vital and important.”

Releasing a publication on Datchuk's work was an honor for F&M. Thank you Jennifer for your collaboration and partnership in this community.

F&M Projects is pleased to announce our first fundraiser in support of Jennifer Ling Datchuk's upcoming publication release! Join us in celebrating Datchuk’s work in true Girl You Can style on Saturday, September 15, 7:30pm.

Nail artists Kaitlyn Rex, owner GLAZE Nail Lounge, and her colleague Sarah Tan are offering a full gel manicure with custom nail decals designed by Datchuk. Decals include a blue and white pattern of the Venus of Willendorf, peaches, uteruses, and more. Aside from getting nails done, salons are about the camaraderie of spending time with one another and the sisterhood that develops. Join the artist for an evening of champagne, macarons from Bakery Lorraine, and, of course, bonding with fellow power ladies (and men!).

The exhibition catalogue, the monograph, the journal, the story of a collection, of a time, of a place—these are the books that record artists and the impactful work they make. F&M Projects, the nonprofit born from French & Michigan, is calling all artists to apply for one of these. Tell us why you need a publication on your work right now and we’ll organize the research, the writing, the design, and print a beautiful, tangible piece that tells the story of your work, that can be sent to curators around the world to further validate your work, and that can be distributed to educate a community right here on your work. * Deadline February 12 * Can be for any past, present, or future body(ies) of work * Is free to apply and free to take part * Is for 4 upcoming release slots * Will be reviewed by an impressive panel of curators * Application period will not reopen until summer 2019 * An exhibition comes and goes * A publication is forever *
