Fall is a fun and festive time for our Scouts and families! Many units will be gathering for seasonal celebrations — from trick-or-treating and trunk-or-treat events to fall festivals and community service projects. These activities are a great way to represent Scouting in our neighborhoods, but safety should always come first.
We’re asking our community to help keep every celebration safe and fun by following a few simple tips:
🎃 Be visible. Wear bright or reflective clothing, add glow sticks, and carry flashlights. Masks can block vision, so consider using face paint instead.
🎃 Stay together. Walk in small, supervised groups, use sidewalks, and cross only at corners — no running between houses or across streets.
🎃 Keep it familiar. Visit trusted neighborhoods, approach well-lit homes, and only accept sealed, store-bought treats.
🎃 Practice fire safety. Use battery-powered candles instead of open flames in decorations, and be cautious around campfires or lanterns at troop or pack events.
By taking a few simple precautions, we can make sure our fall celebrations reflect the fun and spirit of Scouting — safely!
