I’m looking to see who is planning to participate in horse judging this year or might be interested in joining the Horse Quiz Bowl team. If you're unfamiliar with the Quiz Bowl, I encourage you to search "4-H Horse Quiz Bowl" on YouTube to get a feel for how the contest works. The competition takes place in the fall, although exact dates have not yet been announced.
If you plan to participate in horse judging, please note that we will need to know by the last week of October whether you intend to attend the San Antonio and Houston contests.
I’d also like to encourage each of you to bring a friend to both Horse Club and Horse Judging Club—it’s a great way to grow our team and share the experience!
In addition to the major contests, I would like us to attend two additional judging events—one in Fort Worth and another in College Station. There will also be an online judging contest opportunity in March.
Horse Club will resume on Sunday, September 1st at 5:00 PM at the arena in Devine. If you’re unsure where the arena is located, please reach out to me for directions. Don’t forget to bring a current Coggins test for each horse you plan to bring. You are welcome to ride more than one horse.
Finally, I would love for us to host a fun, non-professional horse show for our club and possibly invite other local 4-H clubs. To make this happen, parental involvement will be essential. We’ll discuss potential classes and show details at our first meeting.
