Angel Friends,

Yesterday, we delivered $1093 in donations collected at our Angel of Hope candle light vigil to Boysville in Converse. We received a thorough briefing on their mission and programs available to all ages of children. We decided to direct funds to the on-campus commissary. Children who are residents will use the money to purchase daily essentials and necessities, such as socks, underwear, snacks, and personal hygiene supplies. Needless to say, we left feeling grateful and thankful for the generosity of Angel Friends who donated.

I regret to inform you that this year’s candle light vigil at UIW has been canceled due to inclement weather conditions. Please light a candle at 7:00 pm for your child. Our bonds remain close and this will ensure we can face our challenges with purpose and faith. Looking forward to seeing you next year!

Angel Friends,

Planning for the December 6, 2023, 7:00 pm, Angel of Hope Candlelight Vigil is complete. Our speaker is Reverend Janet Weatherston, Mission and Outreach Program, Alamo Heights United Methodist Church. See The attached a flyer about our annual event. Notice that this year we have not selected a children’s charity to receive donations. Attendees are encouraged to provide a toy or monetary gift in memory of their child to local businesses or churches who are sponsoring Christmas gift programs for less fortunate children, such as the Angel Tree programs.

In the midst of so much negative and tragic news, today I was fortunate to experience something so good and impactful. I visited Sleep in Heavenly Peace, this year’s recipient of donations from our December 6th candlelight vigil. Thanks to those who donated we were able to give them $920 for replenishing wood, pillows, and bedding. I was told there are 76,000 children in the San Antonio area who don’t have a bed. This year, SHP will donate 1300 beds. They operate only on free labor, donated materials, and monetary donations. Staff do not receive a salary. Today, parents and their children were working together. They were so thankful for our donations as a huge delivery is going out next week before Christmas. If you want to put in a rewarding day of work (you don’t need carpentry experience), they would love to have you. They are located at 10616 Sentinel St., San Antonio, 844-432-2337, extension 5700.

Angel Friends,

With the holidays just around the corner, it is imperative that we honor and include our precious children in heaven in our holiday plans. We hope that you include our annual vigil as part of your celebration. I’ve attached a flyer for you to share with others who may not know about our event. This year’s charity beneficiary is Sleep in Heavenly Peace. You can learn more about them from the information provided in the flyer. Our speaker is Celeste Miller, Bereavement Coordinator at Porter Loring Family Care Services. And as always, the Texas Children’s Choir will be performing.

Our Board of Directors approved an upgrade to the Angel of Hope Statue site. The flagstone was becoming unsightly and a safety tripping hazard. We went with stained concrete. Thanks to all those who have contributed in the past so that we could accomplished this project.
