Project RED Project RED is a community. We bridge gaps for children and bring hope to families in El Salvador thr They need our support! www.projectredelsalvador.org

Children are leaving orphanages in order to live with their biological families because of a law in El Salvador. Project RED helps these families in a holistic way through education, empowerment and immediate relief. Join us & help bring hope to families!

In March 2012, Vanessa joined Project RED as a social work intern. We were barely out of our pilot phase and honestly didn’t have much to offer an intern in terms of resources or support.

What we did have was a lot of work to do and plenty of opportunities for hands-on experience. Vane needed the experience, and we definitely needed the help!

Nearly 15 years later, she’s still here.

Vane has grown alongside RED. She’s become an incredible social worker, deepening her understanding of trauma, trauma-informed care and what it means to really help people in ways that last. She’s worked with families through enormous pain, healing, growth and new opportunities, and has loved them so well along the way.

And while Vane has watched RED grow from its earliest days into what it is today, we’ve had the privilege of watching her life and family grow too.

She’s been part of almost every chapter of this organization. She has taught us plenty along the way about loving people well, being grateful for this community, and trusting in God’s unfailing provision.
We’re so thankful that Vane is part of this RED family for the long haul. ❤️

We didn’t meet Olga because we were looking for her.

More than a decade ago, Project RED began working with her older sister and nephew during an incredibly difficult time in their lives. As we got to know their family, we got to know Olga too.

One day during a home visit, we unintentionally ended up sitting and talking with Olga. We asked about her goals and dreams, and she told us no one had ever really asked her that before.

Olga was an incredible soccer player who had played on El Salvador’s national girls’ soccer team and traveled throughout Central America to compete. We assumed her dream would involve soccer. Instead, she told us she wanted to teach children values through Physical Education.

Because of her family’s extreme poverty, even finishing high school had been a stretch. College had never really been an option. But Olga wanted the opportunity, and Project RED gave her a scholarship to study Education with a concentration in Physical Education.

It wasn’t an easy road, but in December 2024, Olga graduated with excellent grades and a steady job already secured.

Today, she’s doing exactly what she dreamed of all those years ago: teaching children about values, perseverance, and working toward their own dreams.🙌🏽♥️

Karla did not have an easy road.

She experienced more at a young age than any child should have to carry, and when we came into her life, she was navigating motherhood and an incredibly difficult set of circumstances.

Nearly 15 years later, Karla has built a safe, stable life for herself and her children—and Project RED was there every step of the way.

When Project RED first met in the Guerra family in 2013, their circumstances felt overwhelming. The children had recently returned home after years of government care, and the family was facing enormous challenges.

They were part of RED for nearly 7 years before graduating in 2019. Eventually, we lost touch.

This summer, we found them again. ♥️

So much has changed. The older children now have families of their own and have built homes on the same property. But the biggest difference wasn’t something we could photograph.

Years ago, there was so much shame surrounding this family: about how they lived, their circumstances and themselves. This summer, we met people who now see themselves differently. They were confident and proud of what they had built. They wanted to tell us about their lives, their families, and everything they had accomplished.

We’re seeing this again and again as we reconnect with families years later. Physical circumstances change, but some of the deepest change happens when people begin to understand their own worth and believe their lives can be different.

Thats the kind of change we hope lasts long after a familg no longer needs RED. ♥️
