Between 2021 and 2025, 36 cyclists were killed and another 118 were seriously injured. In 2025, 6 cyclists were killed and and another 15 were seriously injured. This year alone, 1 cyclist has lost his life, Mark Anthony Morales. These people are our fellow San Antonians, friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers โ not coming home to their families or with lives drastically altered.
Cyclists are encouraged to wear white clothing in memory of those who have been injured or killed. Many of us wear the names of cyclists killed or severely injured by a vehicle on our clothing. The Ride of Silence is a free ride that asks its cyclists to ride no faster than 12 mph, wear helmets, follow the rules of the road and remain silent during the ride. Following the ride, we welcome you to stay and visit with one another.
The Ride of Silence will take place on Wednesday, May 20 at 7:00 PM, weather permitting, with a rain date tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 23 at 10 AM. Check the event webpage and social media for more updates.
