Hello! We are the Herefords from the 4th Battalion of STRB. This year we had the privilege of being selected for this 5 day program all about ranching and leadership. We got to participate in hands-on activities like a bovine necropsy, processing calves chute-side, identifying plants, and so much more!

We have been truly blessed to be able to expand our knowledge, build impactful relationships, have fun, and build the legacy of ranching. On behalf of the Hereford herd, we would like to thank Brigades, volunteers, and anyone else who helped make this experience of a lifetime possible.

Hi y’all! We are the Charolais herd at the 4th Batallion of STRB. Texas Brigades is a nonprofit organization focused on creating conservation leaders in every community.

We have been learning so much at camp! We’re developing technical ranch skills like roping and chores. We have also practiced media skills and put them to use when we did “mock media interviews”. To round it all out, we learned different cuts of meat that come from a beef carcass!

South Texas Ranch Brigafe is a fvery fun experience and we recommend it to any youth interested in conservation or beef cattle production.

Howdy y’all!! We are the Brahman herd of the 4th Batallion of South TX Ranch Brigade. We are grateful for everyone who makes these unforgettable experiences possible. Our leaders are helping educate the future of America about conservation, agriculture, and leadership.

Some of our favorite activities are the leadership challenges where we try new things and expand our minds. In one activity, a designated leader had to communicate directions to the rest of the herd on how to stack cans using ropes. We have also learned about beef production! After a low-stress cattle handling demonstration, we processed calves, which included vaccinations, ear notching and tagging, and castration.

Introducing the Angus herd at the 4th Batallion of South TX Ranch Brigade.

We started camp off with a bovine necropsy learning all about digestion, skeletal structure, reproductive organs, and more. Some of our favorite things so far have been learning beneficial plants for cattle, the different compartments of a bovine stomach, and determining stocking rate.

We are blessed to be surrounded by experts willing to volunteer their time to teach us this week. We are also grateful to be making new friends that will last a lifetime!

Howdy folks!! Happy June!

We are gearing up for camp & SO excited to meet our 2025 class of cadets!!

We are just over two weeks out & still needing two adult leaders to assist our cadets.

If you or someone you know is an adult looking for a life-changing four days in south TX, please come our way!

⭐️ Must be able to pass a background check

⭐️ Duties include mentoring cadets in your herd (5-6 kids) & making sure they get where they need to be on time!

⭐️ You will undoubtedly learn new things about ranch management, ecology, communication & leadership.

⭐️ These cadets will surprise you and restore your faith in the younger generation of today.

⭐️ No ranching experience required!! Not an instructing position.

What do you hope to learn from camp? Think about skills you want to gain—whether it's wildlife management, leadership development, or brushing up on some plant identification skills.
