Traumatic events can leave children feeling scared, confused, or overwhelmed. Knowing what to say as a parent isn’t always easy, and many have reached out to us asking how to talk to their kids about what’s happened.

This is a follow-up to the video we shared earlier from Dr. Kasi Howard; now, with simple-to-follow tips, you can save and share. Here are some helpful ways to support children after a traumatic event:

✔️ Be honest, but skip frightening or graphic details�
✔️ Avoid confusing phrases like “she lives in our hearts”�
✔️ Help kids process emotions through drawing or small acts of kindness
✔️ Limit news exposure to prevent overwhelm�
✔️ Offer frequent, gentle reminders that they are safe and cared for
