What’s a dessert that brings back a happy memory? 💗 Maybe it’s pan dulce with your family, a birthday cake, or ice cream with someone you love 🍦

Today, October 14, is National Dessert Day, and we’re celebrating the little things that bring us joy and give us a reason to connect. Making time for those moments can help us feel more present, connected, and cared for, and our mental health deserves that attention too 💗

A Package of Possibilities 💗📦✨

We’re sending a little piece of our community’s love to Honduras! Maya’s Love is preparing a care package for 30 girls, ages 3–16, living in an orphanage, and we invite you to help fill it.

Each item serves a purpose: supplies for learning, clothing and shoes for everyday needs, and toys and art materials that give children space to imagine, express themselves, and enjoy being kids.

Before these places became the communities we call home, they were already home to Indigenous peoples, with languages, traditions, and connections to the land that continue today 💗

This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Maya’s Love honors the generations who have carried that love forward, the elders who keep stories alive, and the young people making their own voices heard

As an organization rooted in community, we believe belonging begins with being seen, heard, and valued. May we teach our children to know whose land they call home, make room for Indigenous stories in their own words, and carry that respect beyond today

Blooming with Kindness is back in Los Fresnos! 💗🌸

On Friday, October 16, Maya’s Love volunteers will gather before the football game to write positive notes, prepare flowers, and welcome neighbors as they enter the stadium. A few kind words can stay with someone long after the game ends, and we’d love for you to help us share them.

Before you vote, think about the things that matter to you 💗

Your kids, your family, your neighborhood, and the opportunities you want for the people you love

Then take a little time to get to know the people on your ballot. What do they care about? What have they done? What are they planning to do for your community?

If you’re not sure where to start, we put together a few easy prompts to help you look them up and keep asking questions 🔎 Swipe through, try one, and follow the links to learn more

Let’s put tools like ChatGPT to good use, but check the sources and dates because our girl makes mistakes too 🤭 Ask for links, open them, and make sure they support what she’s telling you

You don’t have to know everything about politics to care about your community. Start with what matters to you, learn about your options, and vote for what you believe in 🗳️

From sharing kindness in Los Fresnos and caring for our coast in Port Aransas to creating space for women on San Antonio’s East Side and sending care to children in Honduras, there are so many ways to connect and get involved

Each opportunity brings us together to care for our communities, support our well-being, and remind someone they belong 🌸

Care for our coast, care for ourselves 🌊💙

Join Maya’s Love’s Port Aransas Chapter as we walk along the beach and pick up litter together. Every piece we collect helps protect marine life and the shoreline we share 🐚

It’s also time to move our bodies, breathe in the ocean air, and connect with others. Caring for our environment can create space to care for our physical and mental well-being, too

Meet our Maya’s Love Youth Lead Team 💗

Welcome Uswatul, Mariyana, Alex, Cecily, and Eva, representing our Rio Grande Valley and San Antonio chapters!

As they shared what matters to them, we heard a common hope: helping other young people feel less alone, making it easier to talk about mental health, and creating spaces where asking for help feels safe

They’ll bring those hopes into their leadership by listening to their peers, developing community projects, and helping shape how we welcome and care for one another

At Maya’s Love, service begins with listening. Our youth have something to say, and we’re proud to support them as they turn their ideas into action 🌷
