OFFICIAL STATEMENT
San Angelo Longhorns Organization
In light of the events that took place this past Saturday, the San Angelo Longhorns Organization and its Board would like to make our position very clear.
We do not condone, support, or agree with ANY of the inappropriate actions that took place during or after Saturday's game, regardless of who was involved.
We are not interested in pointing fingers, assigning blame, or adding to the controversy. What matters most is remembering what this event was supposed to be about.
This was a 5U football game. A game for CHILDREN.
Young athletes who came together to compete, have fun, learn sportsmanship, and enjoy a game they are just beginning to love. There is absolutely no place in youth sports for adults to allow emotions, disagreements, or personal conflicts to overshadow that experience.
What is equally concerning is that the situation has continued beyond the football field. The ongoing social media posts and public exchanges, particularly those involving individuals' livelihoods, personal information, and home addresses, are deeply troubling.
We strongly disagree with ALL actions that have contributed to escalating this situation, both on and off the field.
The San Angelo Longhorns will not associate ourselves with or support anyone who continues to fuel hostility, encourage confrontation, or engage in behavior that puts individuals, families, or our communities at risk.
We live in a world where disagreements can escalate into something far more serious, and we should all recognize the potential consequences of our words and actions.
Our goal is to build an organization that serves as a safe place for children and families. A place where sportsmanship, respect, accountability, and character are not simply words we use, but values we demonstrate through our actions.
We want our children to grow up understanding that competition does not require hatred, that disagreements do not justify disrespect, and that the way we carry ourselves matters just as much as the outcome of a game.
Every child who stepped onto that field Saturday deserved to be celebrated. It should not matter what uniform they wore, what team they represented, or what city they traveled from. They are CHILDREN, and every one of them deserves the opportunity to compete in an environment free from adult hostility and unnecessary conflict.
The San Angelo Longhorns are committed to being part of the solution, not part of the problem.
We cannot control the actions of everyone around us, but we can and will hold ourselves and our organization to a higher standard.
Our responsibility is to the kids. Our commitment is to their safety. And our foundation will always be built on CHARACTER.
We sincerely hope everyone involved can put an end to the hostility, recognize what is truly important, and allow the focus to return to the young athletes who deserve it.
Sincerely,
The San Angelo Longhorns Board of Directors
One Team. One Family. Character Above All.
