Thursday's Candidate Forum event was a great success, despite the Republican candidates not being present.
Huge thank you to Will McDaniel and Chrysanthemum Cohen from The Concho Observer for their excellent moderation!

We attempted to connect to candidates as early as mid-July, and solicited their offices to suggest dates that would work for them. With no responses, we returned to the correspondence to give them a date that our team deemed would work for us around mid-August.
Susan Werner had agreed to attend and we were very much looking forward to hearing from her, unfortunately on Monday, 10/5, she let our team know she was no longer able to attend.
Congressman Pfluger's office had not given us a definitive response until 2 hours before the event, when they informed us that they would be holding their own telephone town hall instead.

It is unfortunate that answering invitation from constituents is not considered a higher priority, but we are grateful to the candidates who were able and willing to carve time out of their busy campaign schedules to join us.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has announced that the ex*****on of former Army Major
Nidal Hasan, an Army psychiatrist convicted of killing 13 people at Fort Hood in Texas, will be
livestreamed on December 3, 2026 at Fort Hood. There is no modern precedence for the U.S.
Government to broadcast an ex*****on; the last public ex*****on occurred in 1936. Experts say
that public ex*****ons and footage of ex*****ons are circulated as intimidation tactics and to
demonstrate power. This type of barbarism and public intimidation is deeply un-American and
could have chilling effects on the psychological well-being of our society.

Call your Senators and Representative to oppose the public ex*****on of Nidal Hasan by the U.S.
Military.

I'm calling to express my outrage over Secretary Hegseths proposal to publicly broadcast the
ex*****on of Nidal Hasan. I urge [REP/SEN NAME] to oppose this act of barbarism by the

intimidate the public and demonstrate political power. This openly authoritarian tactic has no
place in the United States.
