Our last musician to introduce for this concert is cellist Tate Zawadiuk! Hear him play THIS Thursday! Ticket info and link in bio.

Canadian cellist Tate Zawadiuk is known for charming audiences around the world with his dynamic and zestful musicianship. He is a founding member of the Viano Quartet that is currently in residence at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Bowers Program from 2024-2027. The quartet performs internationally and has visited major cities including New York, London, Berlin, Vancouver, Paris, Beijing,Toronto, Lucerne, and Los Angeles, performing in venues such as Wigmore Hall, Berlin Konzerthaus, Flagey, and Bremen Die Glocke. In 2019, the Viano Quartet won First Prize at the Banff International String Quartet Competition. As a soloist, Tate has performed with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vancouver Philharmonic, New Westminster Symphony, Richmond Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra where he played as a soloist with James Ehnes for their Centennial Celebration Gala Concert.
Tate studied at the Colburn Conservatory of Music with Ronald Leonard and Clive Greensmith, and with the Dover Quartet at the Curtis Institute of Music as a member of the Nina von Maltzahn String Quartet-in-Residence program.

Meet violinist and the SLCO’s founder, Bree Fotheringham! She would love to see you at our first public performance next week!!

Bree Fotheringham is an American violinist and dedicated advocate for classical music in the 21st century. She has shared the stage with notable artists such as Noah Bendix-Balgley and Phillip Setzer, appeared on Vermont Public Classical, and the PBS Show “Now Hear This”, and performed at festivals such as Manchester Music Festival, Tanglewood, Bay Chamber Concerts Screen Door Festival, and Aspen. She maintains a busy performance schedule of recitals, chamber music, and performances with chamber orchestras, and just founded a new ensemble based in Utah called the Salt Lake Chamber Orchestra. She is a graduate of the New England Conservatory and the Colburn School, and currently lives in Boston.

Violinist Grant Houston connects with listeners through performances of unbridled energy and emotional magnetism. Particularly devoted to chamber music, he appears frequently at series and festivals across the country, such as Spoleto Festival USA (Bank of America Chamber Music), the Grand Canyon Music Festival, the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival, Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia, Monadnock Music, Wellesley Chamber Players, First Mondays at Jordan Hall, and Juventas New Music. He performs often with the conductorless ensembles A Far Cry, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and in the summer of 2024 was named a Co-Artistic Director of the Portland, Maine-based Palaver Strings. As the violinist of Trio Gaia, Houston has helped to build one of today’s most exciting piano trios, recognized for bringing audiences dynamic, personally relevant experiences inside and outside the concert hall. As a student of Donald Weilerstein, Ayano Ninomiya, Vivian Hornik Weilerstein, and Merry Peckham, Houston completed both undergraduate and graduate study at the New England Conservatory of Music.

Next up on Meet the Musicians, we have the lovely violist Erin Kipp!

Erin Kipp is an American violist currently residing in Salt Lake City, Utah. She enjoys a varied career as a chamber musician, orchestral musician, session musician and teacher. 

Erin has performed as a soloist in the Schlosskonzerte Series in Salzburg, Austria, served as Associate Principal Viola for the Eutiner Festspiele in Eutin, Germany, and served as Section Viola from 2014-2023 with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic (IN). 

In 2015, she was part of a Recording of Darius Milhaud’s “L’Orestie” that garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Opera Recording. 

Her primary teachers were world renowned violist David Dalton, Herbert Lindsberger, Yizhak
Schotten, and Stanley Konopka, Associate Principal Viola of The Cleveland Orchestra. 

Her students have gotten accepted into some of the most prestigious conservatories and schools such as Oberlin, CIM, Julliard, University of Michigan, among others, and summer music festivals such as Brevard. 

When not playing, teaching or recording, Erin enjoys spending time outside with her husband and their two whippets.

Meet the musicians performing on our Winter Celebration Concert! First up we have the incredible Cherry Yeung. Get your tickets today to see Cherry perform at Publik Space on December 19th!

Cherry Choi Tung Yeung is a violinist and violist born and raised in Hong Kong. Winning her first job at one of the major orchestras in the United States at the age of 21, Ms. Yeung is now the
Associate Principal Second Violin of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Yeung has performed with the New York Philharmonic; San Diego Symphony; Hong
Kong Academy, New World, and Princeton Symphony Orchestras; Symphony in C; New
Jersey Festival Orchestra. Ms. Yeung served as Concertmaster of The Juilliard School
Orchestra and the Curtis Symphony Orchestra where she was awarded the loan of a fine
Giovanni Battista Guadagnini violin. Ms Yeung led the orchestra in the 2020 Curtis on Tour
and performed in world renowned venues including the Carnegie Hall.

Ms. Yeung has been an artist of the prestigious Marlboro Music Festival since 2022. Ms.
Yeung has won numerous prizes including first prize at the Hudson Valley Philharmonic
String Competition, prompting engagements with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic and the
Orchestra Sinfonica Rossini di Pesaro in Italy. Her other competition awards include second
prize of the Juilliard Violin Concerto Competition, winner of the Hong Kong Academy for
Performing Arts Concerto Competition for two consecutive years, second prize of the Alice
and Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition, and first prize of the Hong Kong
Youth String Competition. In 2018 she was named a New York Philharmonic Global Academy
Zarin Mehta Fellow and she was the youngest finalist of both the Philadelphia Orchestra and
Pittsburgh Symphony Associate Concertmaster Audition. Ms. Yeung plays on a 1768 Pietro Giovanni Mantegazza.
