The Lionheart Gift Foundation was created to show appreciation and give back to those who put their lives on the line, protect and serve our communities and our country, in essence, a Lionheart. Dialing 9-1-1 is second nature to us today, but the universal emergency system was actually created back in 1968!

Before that, people had to dial their local police or fire department's full 10-digit phone number directly during a crisis.

Today, emergency communications specialists handle over 240 million calls every single year, serving as the first first responder on the scene and guiding families through their darkest moments.

Back-to-school season is officially in full swing! 🎒✏️

Between 24-hour shifts, night rotations, and unexpected callbacks, back-to-school season looks a little different in a first responder or military household. It takes extra coordination, late-night homework sessions, and a lot of flexibility.

To all the moms, dads, and caregivers balancing chaotic shifts while helping with science projects, morning drop-offs, and packing lunches- we see you, and you're doing an amazing job. ❤

August is National Traffic Safety Awareness Month, and for highway patrol, local officers, and firefighters, roadside incidents represent some of the highest daily risks on the job.

Today’s tip is a crucial reminder for both our responders and the public we serve:

For the Public:

❤ Slow Down & Move Over: When you see flashing lights on the shoulder, give our crews room to work. Moving over one lane isn't just common courtesy, it's the law.

❤ Ditch the Distractions: A split-second glance at a phone can change a family's life forever. Keep your eyes on the road, especially around crash scenes.

For First Responders:

❤ Position for Protection: Always use your apparatus to create a block ("fend-off position") between oncoming traffic and the scene.

❤ Never Assume Safety: Treat every traffic stop and roadside call with 360-degree awareness- keep an eye on traffic flow at all times.

Let's make sure everyone who goes to work on our roads comes home safely at the end of their shift.
