Wildlife can recover. Landscapes can heal. And conservation works.

Join us in Salt Lake City on October 12 for a special screening of PRESERVED, a new feature documentary exploring the remarkable restoration of wildlife and wild lands at Vermejo in northern New Mexico.

Following the film, Utah Mountain Lion Conservation’s own Denise Peterson will join filmmaker Ben Clark, Ted Turner Reserves President Jade McBride, and professional ski mountaineer and environmental advocate Caroline Gleich for a conversation about wildlife, conservation, and what it takes to restore healthy ecosystems.

We had a full weekend, which started off with a presentation for the Land We Share Summit hosted by Stewardship Utah . They did an incredible job on this summit! We were honored to be invited out to speak with attendees about our lions. Thank you to everyone who came out and participated in the discussion.

On Saturday, we headed north to the Northern Utah Trailfest where we met with many outdoor lovers about what’s going on in Utah with our mountain lions. We had a lot of great conversations and left feeling inspired! Thank you Trails Foundation of No. UT for having us out!

We started off Sunday with a relaxing yoga class led by Carrie Marcos . The class was dedicated to raising awareness about the current issues with mountain lion management here. It was a beautiful practice! Thank you for everyone who attended!

After that, we headed out to spend some time out on the mountain doing some field work. It felt good to unplug after a busy few days and spend time in the field scouting for sign.

We want to extend our sincerest gratitude to all of the orgs and individuals that have supported our work and our lions. Thank you so much for opportunities to come out and meet with people to share the stories of our incredible cats. There’s a lot of work to do here to restore protections for them, and we always feel so inspired every time we connect with people and see how many want to change things for the better for our cats.

We’re kicking off October with several different events and presentations! To start things off, we’re giving a presentation at Westminster University at the Land We Share Summit on Friday, Oct. 2nd from 10 AM to 11:15. Thank you, Stewardship Utah , for organizing this event!

On Saturday, Oct. 3rd, we’re headed to the Northern Utah Trailfest! If you’re up that way, make sure you stop by to say hi! We’ll catch you up on everything we’ve been working on.

Then we’ll be getting our flow on for Utah’s mountain lions on Sunday, October 4! This is a potluck event, so bring a dish to pass. Thanks Carrie Marcos for coordinating this special event! 🙏

Join us at The Land We Share Summit on Friday, Oct 2nd at Westminster University for a one-day gathering to build long-term solutions for Utah’s public lands. The Keynote speaker is Winona LaDuke, Indigenous rights leader and conservation champion. Expect interactive breakouts on watershed health, biodiversity, land-use policy, and cross-boundary collaboration, plus a public-lands–inspired art experience. It’s hosted by Stewardship Utah , whose mission is to safeguard our shared natural resources through bold policy and civic power.

We’ll be participating in the Wildland Fires, Wildlife, and Watersheds panel discussion from 10:00 - 11:15 AM.

Do you love yoga and our mountain lions?! If so, we’ve got a special event coming your way soon!

Join us on Oct. 4 for yoga and brunch at Sugar Space from 9:30 to noon! We’ll be flowing for our lions, while discussing the current management issues in Utah and what you can do to help.

This is a donation-based practice with proceeds going to support our ongoing conservation work for Utah’s mountain lions. Brunch is a potluck, so bring a dish to pass!
