Community Animal Welfare Society ( CAWS) is one of the oldest no-kill animal rescues in Utah. Over the last 25 years CAWS, our fosters and supporters have saved thousands of lives. As the largest foster home network in the state of Utah, we focus on high risk pets in need of additional care and rehabilitation

We are a FOSTER HOME BASED rescue; we do not have a shelter or physical location. All of

cats and dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date for age appropriate vaccinations & microchipped,

DOG Adoption Fees:
~ Puppies under 6 months - $300
~ Dogs 6 months to 10 years - $200
~ Dogs over 10 years (senior) - $100
*Any adopter who completes a training class with a puppy will receive a $50 refund from their adoption fee and an adopter completing a training with an adult dog (non senior) will receive a $25 refund from their adoption fee. CAT Adoption Fees:
~Kitten (Less than 1 year): Single $100, Pair $150, Trio $200
~Adult (1 thru 9 years): Single $75, Pair $100
~Mature (10+ years): Single (or Pair) $50
~Kitten adopted with an Adult: $125
*We strongly recommend that most cats have a feline "sibling" in their forever homes & therefore we offer the special pricing for pairs.

Meet Koba! Koba is a 4-month-old Border Collie mix with a gentle heart and an old soul. At around 25 pounds, he's still growing into what will likely be a big, lovable companion.

While he enjoys toys and puppy playtime, his favorite place is simply by his person's side. Whether you're working, relaxing, or out in the yard, Koba is happiest just being with you. This sweet boy warms up to new people within minutes and quickly wins everyone over with his love of belly rubs, snuggles, and kisses.

He's incredibly smart—he learned his name almost overnight, already knows "sit," takes treats gently, and is making great progress with both potty training and basic commands. He loves treats and is eager to learn, making training a fun experience. Koba is mostly house trained, has excellent manners for a puppy, and is working on crate training and leash skills.

He's calm around other dogs but definitely prefers spending time with his humans. When he's feeling unsure, he'll quietly stick close to the people he trusts.

As a growing Border Collie mix, Koba will thrive with a family that understands intelligent, active breeds. A home with a fenced yard where he can stretch his legs and continue learning would be ideal. Most of all, he's looking for someone who wants a loyal best friend that's always nearby.

Beautiful Eli was another wonderful dog who attended our adoption event today but sadly wasn’t chosen. 💔 This almost 8-year-old Blue Heeler/Border Collie mix is still waiting for someone to see just how special he is.

Eli is smart, playful, loyal, and incredibly devoted to his people. Once he knows and trusts you, he forms a deep bond and wants nothing more than to be by your side. He’s house-trained, eager to please, and loves getting outside for walks, exploring, and playtime. With that herding-dog brain, he also thrives on having things to learn and do.

And one of the best things about Eli? He LOVES other dogs! Although he spent much of his life as an only dog, he’s discovered just how much fun canine friends can be. He loves playing and spending time with them, and a home with a dog buddy could be a wonderful fit.

Eli would do best in an adult-only home or one with older, dog-savvy teenagers. He can pull on leash when he gets excited, so he’ll benefit from continued leash work, and a securely fenced yard would be a big bonus.

We had so many wonderful adoptions at our event today, but unfortunately sweet Cinco wasn’t one of them.

Cinco is a 9-month-old mixed breed who can be shy when meeting new people, but give him a little time to decide you’ve passed his background check and his whole personality comes out. He transforms into an affectionate, hilarious, zoomie-powered cuddle bug who loves his people, sleeps in bed, and specializes in morning snuggles.

Cinco is friendly and submissive with other dogs and very pack-oriented. His dream home would include a confident, playful dog sibling who enjoys wrestling and chasing as much as he does.

He’s also quite the athlete and would make an awesome running, hiking, or adventure buddy. He recently tried paddleboarding and crushed it! At home, Cinco is potty trained, kennel trained, uses a dog door, knows “sit,” and walks nicely without pulling.

Cinco is looking for a patient, active family who will give him a little time to feel safe. Once he decides you’re his person, you get the full Cinco experience: cuddles, adventures, hilarious zoomies, unconditional love, and complimentary fly removal.

Cinco may not have found his family today, but we know they’re out there. Please share and help us find them!

We had so many wonderful adoptions at our event today, and we couldn’t be happier for all the dogs who headed home with their new families. Unfortunately, sweet Bruno wasn’t one of them 💔

Bruno is a 5-year-old Mini Goldendoodle weighing around 30 pounds. He’s a gentle, low-key guy who is friendly with new people but may need a little time to fully relax. Once he does, he starts showing his sweet personality and becoming a little shadow—especially with his foster dad!

Bruno has beautiful light blue eyes and is deaf, but that doesn’t slow him down. He’ll simply need a family willing to communicate with him through hand signals and other visual cues. He is mostly quiet, mostly house trained, and has good manners overall.

Bruno is fantastic with other dogs and currently lives with five canine companions. He’s easygoing, has started playing with the younger dogs, and would likely enjoy having a friendly canine companion in his forever home. He has also reportedly lived successfully with cats.

He isn’t quite a cuddle bug yet, but he’s getting there! Bruno loves a good hind-end scratch and is increasingly happiest just hanging out near his people.

Bruno may not have found his person today, but we know they’re out there. Help us make sure his future family sees him by sharing his post.

Stanley is currently in boarding and looking for a foster or adopter! ❤️

Stanley is a 2-year-old, 45-pound Border Collie mix who is an incredibly sweet, affectionate guy and would love nothing more than a home to call his own—even if it’s just a temporary one while he waits for his forever family.

He loves being with his people and is a total cuddle buddy. If you’re looking for a dog who will happily curl up beside you on the couch and soak up all the affection you’re willing to give, Stanley is your guy. He’s friendly, eager to please, very treat motivated, and loves handing out hugs.

Stanley already has many of the basics down. He is potty trained, crate trained, and leash trained, making him a great fit for a foster or adopter looking for a younger dog who isn’t starting completely from scratch.

He generally does well with other dogs and would especially enjoy having a canine companion. Stanley does have some resource guarding around food, so he should be fed separately in his crate where he can enjoy his meals without another dog approaching. He is not a match for a home with cats.

Boarding is no substitute for a home, and we would love to get Stanley into a foster or forever home as soon as possible. If you can foster, CAWS provides the supplies and medical care—you provide Stanley with a safe place to land while he waits for his family.

Meet Remi, a 12-week-old Cattle Dog mix with a sweet, affectionate personality and a playful side that comes out more and more as he gets comfortable.

Remi can be a little shy and reserved when he first meets someone or finds himself in an unfamiliar situation. He may look to his people for reassurance, but once he realizes he’s safe, his personality blossoms. He becomes a happy, curious, energetic puppy who loves toys, wants to be part of whatever is happening, and has plenty of affection to give—especially in the form of kisses!

For such a young puppy, Remi is doing especially well with his puppy mouthiness and is learning to be very gentle with his mouth. He also enjoys playing with other dogs and does a good job respecting their boundaries. He’s continuing to learn appropriate play and when another dog is telling him it’s time to give them some space.

Remi is the smaller of his littermates and may have been a little hesitant to compete for food when he was younger. He has absolutely no trouble eating in his foster home, and they’re making sure he gets all the nutrition he needs to continue catching up and growing.

Like any 12-week-old puppy, Remi is still working on daytime potty training and has occasional accidents. He’s also a big fan of water, so frequent potty breaks are especially important!

Meet Bodie, a 12-week-old Cattle Dog mix with a sweet, affectionate nature and an easygoing personality. For such a young pup, he already has a wonderful balance of playfulness and independence. He loves to play, but he’s also great at settling himself afterward—he’ll happily grab a toy, entertain himself for a while, and then curl up for a nap.

Bodie enjoys playing with other dogs and is continuing to learn appropriate play and boundaries. He responds well to redirection and is learning to recognize when another dog needs some space. Like many puppies his age, he can also be a little mouthy and is still figuring out what is—and isn’t—okay to chew.

He’s already showing that he’s a smart and responsive little guy! When you call “come here,” Bodie typically comes right over. He is fully crate trained when crated with his brother and sleeps through the entire night without any issues. He’s still working on daytime potty training and has occasional accidents, so his new family should be ready to continue helping him learn.

Bodie is a good eater, loves water, and enjoys toys and independent play. There are currently no children or cats in his foster home, so he hasn’t been directly tested with either. Based on his overall temperament, his foster does not anticipate either being an issue with appropriate introductions and supervision.

Overall, Bodie is a wonderfully adaptable, affectionate puppy who offers a great balance of playfulness and calm. He enjoys being with his people and other dogs, but he’s also comfortable entertaining himself and settling down when the fun is over. He’s looking for a family ready to give him all the love, training, socialization, and guidance a young puppy needs as he grows.
