CONGRATULATIONS Patrick on being elected as AFSCME's next International President! ✊️ ✊️

For the last 14 years, Patrick has led our council with integrity and care, and he is an organizer through and through.

Under his leadership, we’ve seen our union grow by thousands of new members and the expansion of collective bargaining rights to over 15,000 workers throughout Maryland. During his tenure, Maryland workers won historic raises, new laws to protect against extreme heat and workplace violence, and a record-breaking wage theft settlement of $23 million.

Our AFSCME family in Maryland will miss Patrick, but we are excited to see the decades of union experience and organizing spirit that he will bring to our national union. We are confident that as AFSCME’s next leader, he will continue to grow worker power, protect and expand public services, and improve the lives of working people everywhere.

This afternoon, AFSCME Maryland Council 3 President Patrick Moran was nominated as the next AFSCME International President at the 47th AFSCME International Convention.

For the last 14 years, President Moran has led our council with integrity, care, and an organizing spirit. Under his leadership, we’ve expanded collective bargaining rights to over 15,000 workers in Maryland; secured historic raises, a heat safety standard, and a workplace violence prevention law; and won a record breaking wage theft settlement of $23 million.

We’re excited that President Moran has the opportunity to lead our national union with AFSCME International Secretary-Treasurer nominee Nicole Pollard. Their leadership demonstrates what’s possible when we fight forward together!
