It’s with the heaviest of hearts I share for the family the unexpected passing of sweet Jaxson.

Jaxson Alexander Simon, passed away after 7 years after battling a complex medical condition. Jaxson was the bright light that held our family together. His smile would light up the darkest of rooms. Even on his bad days you could see the shine in his eyes. On November 13, 2025 Jaxson lost that shine and was pronounced deceased at Jeff Gordon’s children’s hospital in Concord NC. With his mother (China Simon), stepfather (Matthew Hatley), grandfather (Jock Simon) and little brother (Maxwell Simon) by his side. He was met at the golden gate by his grandmother(Joyce Simon) and uncle (Alexander Simon)

Jaxson wasn’t your typical kid. He had a fight about him that was untouchable! He was strong, brave and even more stubborn. His favorite trick was to play with the doctor’s intelligence. He always thought he would get the last laugh. We can’t thank his team of doctors enough for everything that they have done to give everyone the past 7 years to love on the sweetest little boy!

At this time there are no words. How do you put into words that half of your heart was ripped out of your chest? How do you express the emptiness a mother feels inside her soul? China did not choose to be a mother, motherhood choose her when she was blessed 7 years ago with Jaxson. Jaxson fought a hard fight. He overcame challenges that would make grown adults crumble. He stood toe to toe with every single obstacle and won.

He was so loved and so cherished. There will forever be a “stinker butt” size hole in his families heart. There will be no denying how beautiful life can be because they were blessed with 7 years with Jaxson.

At this time the family has no funeral arrangements set but once they do we will let everyone know. I do know we will have a service in NC and one in MD so everyone can come and not have to stress about traveling too far.

China and Matt will be taking a few weeks off of work to handle arrangements and services. As a first responders this is going to take a huge hit to them financially. If anyone would like to make a monetary donation to the family it is GREATLY APPRECIATED but not necessary! All they ask for at this time is your thoughts and prayers to this amazing family as they navigate this new life without Jaxson.

If y’all could send some prayers to Jaxson this morning it’d be greatly appreciated!

We are on our way to Annapolis to go to the physical therapy MD to determine why Jaxson isn’t building muscle after having covid back in May 2022. He continues to lose it even with weekly ot/pt. So we are hoping to get more answers today.

We still have not received his results of his EEG that he had on Friday. Which is putting my mommy brain into a panic because no news isn’t always good news when it comes to little man😫

Just please continue to have him in your thoughts and prayers. 💙

Picky promise to be the best mommy possible for you and your brother. It’s us against the world baby. 💙

Today we are in Fairfax VA to have an EEG done of Jaxson brain activity to determine if he’s still actively having seizures and if so how much damage has it caused. We have noticed Jaxson has been more lethargic and harder to arouse throughout the day and his lab work has been pretty stable the last few weeks so we are worried this is a Neuro related issue. Either one of two things are happening. His medication is too much for him and we’ll take him off of the medication to see if his energy will improve or he has low energy due to having constant seizures that aren’t visible.

I just want some answers and my baby strong again! 🥺

Update on Jaxson! 🖤

So we were on plan for Jaxson to be discharged today but mr sir had other plans. His sodium went lower than expected so they held off his DDAVP and fluids. Getting another lab at 2.

Also Jaxson’s TSH levels were extremely low but that’s to be expected due to his pituitary gland not being active. Normal is .7-5.9 and his were .051. His T-4 levels were low but normal. They will draw another thyroid lab before discharge to be sure! Jaxson takes levothyroxine which is a synthetic thyroid hormone because his little body is unable to produce it on his own! For those that don’t know your thyroid is a huge part of your body. It controls your metabolism and your energy! Since his body is unable to create TSH on it’s on he needs an outside source which is levothyroxine!

Update on little man!

He finally got a PICU bed early this morning! He has become stable. Still pret lethargic but will still wake up to eat and drink which is great! Pop pop flew with him because I have a ton of stuff to get done on the home front so he’s in great hands!

At noon his sodium was 168 and his current sodium is 158 so it’s coming down slowly but surely! Right now they are giving him maintenance fluids to bring his sodium down steadily.

He has not had any more seizure activity since yesterday but they plan on doing a 24hr EEG study and mri just to confirm.

Right now they are adjusting his DDAVP and fluids to see what’s the best formula to send him home on but that will take a few days at least!

Please just keep my boy and pop pop in your prayers while they are in DC. I’ll be up there later Friday! 🖤 thank you to everyone who has reached out and always support us! We appreciate it more than y’all know!

I knew it was too good to last this long. Please keep Jaxson in your prayers! 🖤 we are heading to the ER at PRMC.

For the last couple days Jaxson has been extremely lethargic. He’s been eating and drinking but just not himself. Sleeping more , harder to wake and when awake he’s extremely fussy. We took him to the pediatrician this morning and got a full lab work up. His sodium is 157 which is high even for him! I’m hoping it’s just a quick er visit since he’s not showing any other symptoms. But we all know Jaxson likes to put on a show for us!

Just please keep my baby boy in your prayers! 💙

Update on Jaxson! 💙

Neurosurgeon appointment on Wednesday went fairly well. (as far as we don’t need a surgery at this very moment)

Due to the damage Jaxson’s brain received during his stroke/seizures, from his last MRI it looks like Jaxson’s brain had shrunk meaning he has more fluid in his brain. Between the skull and brain and within the brain (Ventricles). As of right now his shunt is holding up with the extra fluid so they aren’t worried about hydrocephalus ot shunt failure but with the extra fluid it’s more likely to happen then before. They have decided to increase his PT/OT to twice a week and speech 3x a week.

We have to go back for a mri in 2 months and a follow up to see if there’s any changes! Hopefully not but y’all know Jaxson likes to keep us on our toes around here!

Today we see Jaxson’s pediatrician to see if his gained some weight and going in the right direction with that!

Our next big appointment isn’t until August 10 and August 22 with his neurologist who specifically follow his seizures and stroke!

PSA if y’all know a speech therapist local to the shore (Berlin to Cambridge) let me know so I don’t have to drive across the bridge 3x a week! Greatly appreciated!

Praying to keep this smile going with good news from neuroscience! 🤞🏼💙

Tomorrow we see one of Jaxson’s neurologist and I’m so scared to know the diagnosis. The last few weeks have been really trying with us. Physically he’s looking better but neurologically he’s degrading. So keep us in your prayers the next couple of days while we wait on results for little man 💙
