Why Do Jehovah's Witnesses Knock on People's Doors?

Many people wonder why Jehovah's Witnesses go from door to door. The answer is simple: we care about people.
The Bible says: "God loved the world so much." (John 3:16) Jehovah loves every person, and we want to reflect that same love. Like Jehovah and his Son, Jesus Christ, we care about our neighbors and want them to have hope for the future. (Proverbs 8:31)

Life can be difficult. Many people feel weighed down by stress, loss, loneliness, or the uncertainty of a chaotic world. As the Bible says, many are living "without God" and have "no hope." (Ephesians 2:12) We believe the Bible offers the hope they need.

The good news of God's Kingdom reminds us that our problems will not last forever. It gives us hope today and the promise of "the real life," everlasting life in God's new world. (1 Timothy 6:19).

We also share the Bible's warnings about what lies ahead because love moves us to do so. Jehovah has always warned people before bringing judgment, giving them the opportunity to respond. (Ezekiel 33:7, 8) The Bible explains that this world will soon come to an end and that God's Kingdom will replace it with a peaceful, righteous new world. (Revelation 16:14, 16; 17:16, 17; 19:11, 19, 20)

When Jehovah's Witnesses knock on your door, we're not trying to bother you. We're simply sharing the same hope that has brought comfort and purpose to our own lives. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to hear the good news of God's Kingdom and to know the God who "loved the world so much." (John 3:16).

Ex. 20:4, 5: “You shall not make yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything in heaven or on earth beneath or in the waters under the earth; you shall not bow down to them or serve them."

Who are “the anointed”?

In Bible terms, the anointed are Christians whom Jehovah God selects and “anoints” with holy spirit for a special hope: to go to heaven and rule with Christ in God’s Kingdom. They are often linked with the “little flock” Jesus mentioned, and with the 144,000 in Revelation.

Who are “the other sheep”?

The other sheep are faithful worshippers who have a different hope: to live forever on a restored paradise earth under God’s Kingdom. They support Christ’s brothers and work alongside the anointed in true worship, but their hope is earthly, not heavenly. A hope of re-establishing what Adam and Eve lost.

What is “the Way of Holiness?”

“The Way of Holiness” is not a literal road. It’s a symbolic way of life: a clean, approved path of worship and conduct that Jehovah provides. Staying on it means:
- keeping worship pure,
- living by Bible standards,
- staying close to Jehovah’s organization and guidance,
- not drifting into practices that Jehovah calls unclean.

What is “spiritual paradise?”

A spiritual paradise is not a physical location. It’s the spiritually safe, nourishing environment Jehovah’s people experience when they practice true worship. It includes things like:
- accurate Bible teaching,
- loving congregation support,
- spiritual protection from corrupt beliefs and harmful practices,
- peace and purpose that come from serving Jehovah.

Who or what is “Babylon the Great?”

Babylon the Great is a prophetic symbol for the world empire of false religion (religion that does not teach or practice true worship as the Bible describes). “Leaving Babylon the Great” means breaking free from false teachings and religious practices and aligning with true worship.

Bible history shows that what happened to the Jews long ago was more than just ancient history, it also teaches a lesson for God’s people today. In a prophetic sense, Jehovah’s servants are like travelers on a symbolic road called “the Way of Holiness.” That road represents a clean, God-approved way of worship and living.

This applies to everyone serving Jehovah God, whether they are anointed (with the hope of ruling with Christ in heaven) or of the other sheep (with the hope of living forever on earth). To reach the blessings of God’s Kingdom, all must stay on this spiritual road.

Since 1919 C.E., millions have “left” Babylon the Great, meaning they have left false religion behind, and they have started traveling on this figurative highway of true worship. Even though this road became clearly open to God’s people in modern times, Jehovah had been preparing for it far earlier, laying the groundwork centuries in advance so his people could be guided into pure worship and future Kingdom blessings.

🙏🏽 A nice way to picture it 🙏🏽: Babylon the Great is the old system of false religion, the Way of Holiness is the clean route of true worship, and spiritual paradise is the safe, healthy spiritual environment Jehovah provides while we walk that route.

The end of the Mosaic Law:

Daniel 9: 27 "And he will keep the covenant in force for the many for one week; and at the half of the week, he will cause sacrifice and gift offering to cease."

Jesus established a covenant with the “many” through his sacrificial death. About three and a half years into his ministry—at the midpoint of the prophetic week—he was “cut off” in death, bringing an end to the need for animal sacrifices under the Mosaic Law. In doing so, he fulfilled the prophecy and made it possible for sins to be atoned for through faith in his sacrifice rather than through continual animal offerings.
