Alexios Retreat Center

Alexios Retreat Center The Diakonia Retreat Center is owned and operated by the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Atlanta. We welcome you to come and enjoy!

It was established in 2004 through the leadership of His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta, whose vision it was to create a place where individuals, families, and groups could come to worship, meet and have fellowship with others while growing in and staying connected to their faith. The Diakonia Retreat Center hosts numerous events throughout the year such as The Metropolis of Atlanta's "S

t. Stephen's Summer Camp '' and the Metropolis of Atlanta Clergy Retreats, but it is also available for individuals, families, and groups to come and have meetings, gatherings, reunions etc.

As another wonderful and blessed St. Stephen's Summer Camp comes to a close, there are so many people to thank for making these five incredible weeks possible.

First and foremost, a heartfelt thank you to the St. Stephen's camp Director, **Monica Gjerde**. Many of us don't fully realize the countless hours of planning, preparation, organization, and dedication it takes to bring camp together and successfully guide it through all five weeks. Your love for this ministry and your commitment to our campers are truly a blessing. Thank you for all that you do!

We are also deeply grateful to our weekly staff and volunteers who traveled from near and far to share their time, talents, and faith:

**Week 1**
• Father Anastasios Hallas – St. Mark, Boca Raton, FL
• Telly Karahalios – Hollywood, FL

**Week 2**
• Deanna Tsetsekas – Clearwater, FL
• Melissa Lenardos – Tampa, FL
• Chris Mantzanas – Tampa, FL
• Anthony and Evelyn Besseas Zehia – Durham, NC

**Week 3**
• Deanna Tsetsekas
• Fofie Karas – Daytona Beach, FL

**Week 4**
• Mike and Ritsa Neary – Matthews, NC
• Fofie Karas
• Ellie Carras
• Thomas William Carras – Conway, SC

**Week 5**
• Ritsa Neary

A special thank you also goes to **George and Katerina Bakogiannis**, who are always available, willing to help, and ready to lend a hand whenever needed. Your generosity and servant hearts never go unnoticed.

We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to the **Philoptochos Ladies of Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Daytona Beach, FL** for their generous donation of three sets of frying pans for our kitchen. Thank you as well to the **Tsetsekas family of Clearwater, FL** for donating additional pans, a salad bowl, and an industrial can opener. Your kindness and generosity will benefit our camp for years to come.

To everyone who volunteered, donated, prayed, encouraged, and supported St. Stephen's Summer Camp—thank you. Because of your generosity and dedication, our campers experienced five weeks filled with faith, friendship, fun, and God's love.

May God bless each of you abundantly, and we look forward to another amazing summer together!

A heartfelt thank you to our priests for their spiritual guidance, prayers, encouragement, and unwavering support throughout the summer. Your presence, leadership, and dedication to our campers, staff, and the entire St. Stephen's family are a true blessing.

We are also incredibly thankful for the many people God placed in our path this summer. We found a dependable contractor, a handyman, a plumber, and an AC repairman who were always willing to show up whenever we needed them. Their prompt help and dedication kept camp running smoothly, and we truly feel blessed by their support.

May God continue to bless our Board of Directors, our amazing staff, our dedicated volunteers, and everyone who gives of themselves to make this ministry possible. We pray for God's continued guidance and abundant blessings on the future of the ARC, that it may continue to be a place where faith, fellowship, and lifelong memories are built for generations to come.

To God be the glory for another blessed summer at St. Stephen's!

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers from Boca Raton! Even though we had to battle the rain, your dedication never slowed down. Your hard work made a tremendous difference, and we couldn't have done it without you.

A special thank you to Rob Smith for stepping up, taking charge, helping with the organization, and overseeing the operation to ensure everything ran smoothly despite the challenging weather.

We truly appreciate every volunteer who showed up and gave their time and energy. Great job, everyone! The ARC truly is Blessed!

As summer camp is fast approaching, we’re trying to help take care of two big needs before the busy season begins ❤️

First up: an electric golf cart for our amazing housekeeper, Araceli! Her current cart has faithfully served its time… and then some 😅 It’s been patched up, repaired, revived, and lovingly “encouraged” back to life more times than we can count — but unfortunately, it has officially reached the point where even duct tape, prayers, and good intentions can’t save it anymore 🚫🛺

We’re also in need of a commercial washer and dryer to help keep up with camp laundry during the summer months.

If you or someone you know would be interested in donating either item, or helping us toward these needs, we would be so grateful! We welcome used, does not have to be brand new!

Please contact Marlene at 864-732-1537 for more information.

Thank you for helping us get ready for an incredible summer camp season! ☀️🏕️

We are beyond grateful for the incredible love and support shown to the ARC by so many faithful communities.

A heartfelt thank you to St. Barbara's Philoptochos, Daytona Beach for their generous donation of a brand-new refrigerator, as well as their financial contribution to help support the mission and daily needs of the ARC. Your kindness and generosity are truly a blessing to us all.

We would also like to thank the many parishes and faithful who continue to support the ARC through donations, encouragement, and especially your prayers. Your love strengthens this ministry more than words can express.

A special thank you as well to Saint Mark Greek Orthodox Church in Boca Raton, Florida, for donating a food processor for our kitchen and for organizing volunteers who will be coming to help with improvements around the ARC. Your willingness to serve with both your hands and hearts means so much to our ministry.

May God bless each and every one of you abundantly for your generosity, compassion, and continued support of the ARC and its mission. We are deeply thankful and humbled by your love. 🙏
