YMCA Camp Greider

YMCA Camp Greider Our day camp gives campers the chance to play outside, make new friends, and challenge themselves! Campers are expected to bring their own lunches.

OUR PROGRAM & VALUES
YMCA Camp Greider has been providing outdoor day camp experiences for children for decades. We believe and teach the values of the YMCA: Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, and Caring through our intentional camp programming. From flag raising and chapel in the morning to skill groups and camper’s choice time in the afternoon, our focus is helping children learn and be successfu

l at camp. OUR FACILITIES
We know that the best place to spend the summer is outside at our beautiful 80-acre campsite in the hills of West Salem. We have two archery ranges, a small pond, extensive hiking trails, a swimming pool, and a large lodge all nestled amongst the trees. DAY CAMP LIFE
Campers arrive each day to the downtown Salem Family YMCA where they meet with their counselor to begin the day. Campers are transported to Camp Greider and spend the day in counselor groups of 1-2 staff and up to twelve campers. These similar-aged groups of campers are perfect for campers to get to know each other and develop skills working as a team. OUR STAFF
Camp professionals supervise our outstanding staff which is comprised of young adults. Our staff are selected for their leadership skills and abilities to create a safe and positive environment for campers. They have a passion for working with youth and being outdoors— what camp is all about! Our staff are trained in child development, behavior management, relationship building, and camp activities and all are First Aid/CPR certified.

Today during Five Days of Action®, we’re highlighting the
importance of monitoring online activity and having a plan.

Did you know 1 in 5 children who use a digital device will be
sexually solicited online? Technology changes fast, and kids are
targeted on the apps, games, and sites they love. Having a Cyber
P.L.A.N., monitoring device use, and teaching online safety rules
can help keep your child safe. Visit fivedaysofaction.org and check
out resources from our partners in child abuse prevention,
, to learn how to set boundaries, teach good cyber
habits, and protect your family online.

Today’s Five Days of Action® focus is on recognizing red flags
online and in-person.

Certain behaviors can signal risk for child sexual abuse and
understanding them helps you act early to keep kids safe. We’re
sharing an infographic that shows what to watch for—whether the
behavior may be low, moderate, or high risk—and these behaviors,
or grooming, can show up both in person and online
situations. Visit fivedaysofaction.org for the infographic and be
sure to check out the resources provided by the Y’s partners in
child abuse prevention, National Children’s Alliance.
