Life in Guaymas, MX 🇲🇽 — School Uniforms 🎒
One thing that’s very normal here in Mexico is school uniforms!
When I was growing up in the U.S., I remember there being so much pressure around what you wore to school—the right clothes, the right shoes, the right brands, and whether or not you fit in. One thing I really appreciate about uniforms is that they take away a lot of that social pressure. Everyone shows up dressed basically the same.
Of course, uniforms come with their own expense. Kids often need a regular uniform and a sports uniform, plus specific shoes, socks, sweaters, etc. (At the Christian school, they need a tie too! 😅) And as kids grow, change schools, or move from elementary to secundaria or preparatoria, it often means buying a whole new set.
Over the years, we’ve bought A LOT of uniforms. 😂 And when you have multiple kids in school, it adds up fast. Uniforms, shoes, backpacks, school supplies, enrollment fees… back-to-school season can be a big financial burden for families.
Through Impact Life / Huella de Impacto, one of the practical ways we've been able to come alongside kids and families is by helping with some of these expenses and removing barriers so kids can keep moving forward in their education. ❤️
What about you—are you Team Uniform, or do you prefer kids having the freedom to choose what they wear to school? 👕🎒
