What a story!

“I am a wife, mother of two, cat enthusiast and bibliophile. For the past seven years, I have worked full-time as a medical assistant for a pediatrician. This experience has been full of constant learning and fulfilling challenges. I was content in this position until one of my patients developed cancer. I could do so little for them. The rural area I live in is severely lacking in pediatric specialty care and it was a nightmare trying to find a nurse capable and willing to perform maintenance on their central line and wounds. A nurse came out of retirement to care for them until their passing. Ever since that patient passed, I knew I wanted to become a nurse. Our Culinary students brought the flavor to the Oregon Community College Association’s CTE Day at the Oregon State Capitol on February 18!

From delicious treats made by our talented students to hands-on displays showcasing Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, COCC was proud to partner with other community colleges in the state on this important event.

Students had the opportunity to connect with legislators, share their stories and highlight how community colleges create strong workforce solutions for Oregon.

We’re so proud of the way our students represented COCC with professionalism, skill and heart. 💙
