Coastal Symphony of Georgia

Coastal Symphony of Georgia Coastal Symphony of GA, a 501(C)3 organization, produces professional concerts and provides educational opportunities for Glynn County, GA.

We are the Coastal Symphony of Georgia, enriching the Golden Isles community through artistically vibrant musical performances since 1982. Our journey began with the vision of two public school music teachers, evolving from a community orchestra to a fully professional ensemble under Maestro Luis Haza's leadership in 2013. Today, under the baton of our rising star Music Director and Conductor Mich

elle Merrill, we continue to engage and inspire our community with programs of superlative quality. Now in her seventh season, Merrill crafts diverse repertoires featuring works by women and composers of color, alongside beloved classics and exciting new compositions. Our professional musicians are honored to contribute to the rich artistic tapestry of the Golden Isles. We believe music is essential and timeless to the human experience, and we're committed to sharing its power with our community. From our humble beginnings as the Brunswick Community Orchestra to our current status as The Coastal Symphony of Georgia, our mission remains unchanged: to engage, enrich, and inspire through the universal language of music.

🎻 Seasons of Sound: From Mozart to Glass

Classical elegance meets contemporary voice. Philip Glass's Violin Concerto No. 2, "The American Four Seasons," is a hypnotic, pulsing modern take on the changing seasons β€” minimalism at its most lush. It's paired with Mozart's Symphony No. 41, the "Jupiter," his final and grandest symphony, full of clarity, elegance, and a dazzling finale.

Two composers, two centuries, one unforgettable conversation between old and new.
🎡 Philip Glass β€” Violin Concerto No. 2, "The American Four Seasons"
🎡 W. A. Mozart β€” Symphony No. 41

An evening of drama, place, and triumph. Wagner's Flying Dutchman Overture opens with all the storm and surge of the sea. Then a true milestone for our region: the world premiere of Elizabeth Kelly's Coastal Concerto β€” brand-new music, heard here first. The night closes with Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, a sweeping, emotional arc that builds to one of the most triumphant finales in the repertoire.

History made on our stage β€” you'll want to be in the room for it.
🎡 Richard Wagner β€” Flying Dutchman Overture
🎡 Elizabeth Kelly β€” Coastal Concerto (World Premiere)
🎡 Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky β€” Symphony No. 5

πŸŽ‰ Season 44 is here β€” and we can't wait to share it with you!

All month long, we'll be rolling out the full lineup, concert by concert, so you can see everything Season 44 has in store. Follow along throughout June as we reveal each program β€” first up, our season opener:

πŸͺ Of Planets and Stars Far, Far Away
πŸ“… Monday, October 5, 2026 | πŸ“ Center for the Arts, 7 Mariner Way

Season 44 lifts off with music of wonder and cosmic scale. Picture the slow, ominous march of "Mars," the shimmer of "Venus," and the spinning energy of "Jupiter" β€” Holst's The Planets is a full orchestral journey across the solar system. Then we jump to a galaxy far, far away with John Williams' selections from Star Wars: the soaring main theme, the menace of the Imperial March, and melodies you'll recognize from the very first note.

Come for the power, stay for the goosebumps.
🎡 Gustav Holst β€” The Planets
🎡 John Williams β€” selections from Star Wars

Rhapsody in Blue. Did it move you?

One of the most iconic pieces ever written. We were proud to bring it to you this season. Drop a note in the comments if you were in the room.

Seen here: Michelle Merrill, CSG Music Director, and rising-star pianist Ray Ushikubo performing Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue in the new Center for the Arts, at our 43rd season finale concert: Beginnings.

Season 43 was something special. Four concerts. Four completely different worlds β€” Expressions, Heavenly Joy, Seasons, and Beginnings β€” and every one of them reminded us why live music matters.
