🌟 Mission Monday
Each Monday we highlight nonprofits that are already part of the ecosystem we are building. This week, the spotlight is on three organizations working to protect our community's most vulnerable, from every angle.
CASA Pinellas (Community Action Stops Abuse) has served as Pinellas County's certified domestic violence center since 1977, providing shelter, a 24-hour hotline, legal advocacy, and prevention programs. In 2022, CASA opened Florida's first Family Justice Center, bringing survivor services together under one roof. Their impact continues to be recognized across our community, including being named St. Pete Life Magazine's 2026 Best Nonprofit for the third year in a row. We're honored that The Do Good Foundation, Inc. was named runner-up, and we'll be sharing more about that later this week. Suncoast Voices For Children works out of the Pinellas County Child Protection Investigation Division, standing alongside investigators and case managers to meet the unmet needs of abused, abandoned, and neglected children in Pinellas and Pasco Counties. Last year alone, Voices provided beds and safety items that helped stabilize placements for more than 3,000 children, and its Opportunity Passport program helps young adults aging out of foster care build financial independence. Right now, Voices is also running a greeting card art contest for young artists ages 6 to 21, with winning designs will spread joy through New Year's, birthday, and uplifting cards. The top three winners will receive a gift card and a spotlight feature. Entries close July 31. Email a scanned copy of artwork to [email protected].
Florida Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office, Guardian ad Litem Sixth Judicial Circuit gives those same children a voice once they are in the court system. Serving Pinellas and Pasco Counties, Volunteer Child Advocates are appointed by dependency court judges and work alongside an attorney and a child welfare professional to represent each child's best interest, visiting homes, reviewing case files, and making recommendations directly to the judge. With more than 3,000 children currently in Pinellas County's foster care system, the program is always in need of more volunteers.

When nonprofits like these are visible to each other and to the community, connection happens and the impact grows beyond what any one organization can do alone. That is what we mean when we say a connected nonprofit ecosystem.
