The Christian concept of marriage is the two s*xes uniting for life as “one flesh.” This means a bonding that is intended to be not only complementary with their s*xual physical parts but also their soul (mind, will, emotions) and spirit (the part of us that is to be connected with God). This pairing is not only ideal for naturally birthing and raising a family it also allows both the man and the woman to grow into their other God-given roles as husband, wife, father, mother, leader, co-leader. In the Bible the Apostle Paul described marriage that God intended as a spiritual mystery to model the relationship between Christ (groom) and the Church (bride). Though lifelong homos*xual relationships can happen, or other types of sinful s*xual relationships for that matter, all of these are a distortion of God’s design and purpose and are an act of rebellion to God’s will.
Marriage is a covenant written into our very bodies. Only a man and a woman can have s*x. Only a man and a woman can create a human being. Only a man and a woman can become one flesh.
