Since Earth Day 2007, building upon an initial Mini-Grant from the Tampa Bay Estuary Program, a dedicated core of concerned residents have met on a monthly basis to plant native vegetation and remove non-native vegetation in Crescent Lake. As a result, the lake now includes over half an acre of diverse emergent marsh that is a productive habitat for frogs, turtles, birds and other wildlife like otters.
