With the November elections right around the corner, the Riviera Bay Civic Association invites you to a special Election Forum featuring candidates running for St. Petersburg City Council, Pinellas County School Board, County Commission, Florida House, and Florida Senate!

This is a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from the people seeking to represent our community, learn about the issues that matter to us, and head to the polls feeling informed and confident.

Good news for us from Denis Phillips. 🤞 for Pensacola.

11pm Hurricane Isaias Update: Winds are now 105 mph making it a strong Category 2 hurricane. The track has not changed. Landfall will be around Pensacola later Friday evening. No impacts on the Bay Area other than a bit of coastal flooding at high tide on Friday and Saturday.

RBCA STORM UPDATE | October 8, 2026

Apparently, October didn’t get our request for a quiet anniversary week. With Milton’s second anniversary tomorrow, we know another storm update may have some neighbors feeling on edge. Take a breath—here’s some reassuring context.

Denis Phillips describes the expected water rise for our area as about 12–18 inches at high tide, similar to a minor king tide event, with some minor street flooding possible. His comparison: “Nothing remotely close to Eta, Idalia or Helene.”

The National Weather Service’s Coastal Flood Advisory for Pinellas County runs from 8 a.m. Friday through 8 a.m. Saturday, with a broader forecast of water levels 1–3 feet above normally predicted tides. These are forecasts, and conditions can change.

Riviera Bay has low-lying areas, so a few sensible precautions are still worthwhile. If your property flooded during Idalia, consider moving belongings off the garage floor and protecting items where water previously entered.

Mayor Welch ’s Chief of Staff contacted RBCA to let us know Public Works crews are lowering pond and lake levels in our neighborhood ahead of the storm.

We hope the forecast improves and we don’t experience any surge. If you’re out around high tide, avoid flooded roads, and please don’t speed through standing water. Vehicle wakes can push water into nearby yards and homes.

RBCA - here’s your chance to hear from the City Council candidates ahead of RBCA's Election Forum on October 22. Local government impacts our everyday lives the most. Get educated to vote!

Candidates for District 2 and 6 St. Petersburg City Council will appear at a candidate forum on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.

The forum, hosted by the League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area and co-sponsored by C**A St. Pete (Council of Neighborhood Associations) will take place at the President Barack Obama Library, located at 3745 9th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33713. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Parking is free. No registration required.

The candidate forum will provide voters with an opportunity to hear directly from candidates about the issues that matter most to the St. Petersburg community ahead of the upcoming election, which is scheduled for November 3, 2026. Voters are invited to submit questions both in advance of the forum and during the event. Submit questions ahead of time here.

Volunteers from the League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area will guide the discussion.

All candidate forums sponsored by the League of Women Voters follow a nonpartisan, unbiased, and impartial format, in keeping with League principles.

The forum is free and open to the public. The event will be recorded by the League. Other than registered Press, no other recordings will be allowed.
