Saturday mornings are better on the beach 🌊

Join MAR at Fort De Soto Park on Saturday, October 24, as we clear litter from one of Florida’s most treasured coastlines! Learn about Fort De Soto’s shorebird habitat areas and how unique they are to our coast!

First cleanup or fiftieth, all are welcome. Come spend a fall morning outside, meet like-minded neighbors, and make a visible difference in just two hours.

⏰ 8:00–10:00 AM
📍 Fort De Soto Park, Shelter 11. Check in at the MAR tent!
🚗 Park at the Gulf Pier lot (parking codes at our tent)

Bring comfy clothes, closed-toe shoes or sandals, sunscreen, a hat, and a reusable water bottle. We’ll provide gloves, buckets, grabbers, bags, and cold water 💧

Trick or Tree is coming to the Pinellas Trail, this Halloween! 🎃👻🌳

Join MAR on Saturday, October 31st for a unique two-part event to celebrate spooky season! Start the day by helping us plant over 100 trees along the trail, and then stay for a Halloween celebration with our community partners!

The second half of this event will be our take on a “Trunk or Treat”, but with themed tables where our community partners will be handing out treats and sharing information about their organizations!

Sharing a huge thank you to all of our volunteers that joined us at Moccasin Lake this weekend to remove invasive species! 🪏🌿🌳

We removed 628 pounds of invasives and some trash, making this our most successful removal at Moccasin Lake yet!!

Removing invasives gives native species more room to grow, which is super important for restoring healthy habitats that can support other wildlife. It is hard work, and it wouldn’t be possible without our wonderful volunteers!

MAR is creating a new pocket pollinator garden at Jorgensen Lake Park!🐝🌻

This small garden will give native pollinators and other wildlife a place to eat, hide, and rest as our city continues to grow. We’d love for you to join us as we create this new little habitat together!

Do you ever wonder what the MAR team is up to between events? This week, we checked on some previously planted tree saplings along the Pinellas Trail. Some needed to be removed so we noted them to be replaced! 🌳

It’s extremely insightful to monitor our plantings over time to better understand their growing conditions and ensure more establishment in the future.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to continue this work on the Pinellas Trail, beautifying our city and creating habitat and shade cover over such a frequented trail system.

There’s nothing quite as rewarding as getting your hands dirty for a good cause! 🌱☀️🪏

This past weekend, MAR joined for a volunteer workday at the Deuces Live St Pete Food Forest. The Food Forest is an urban garden that provides fresh, locally grown produce to the St. Petersburg community!

We spent the morning removing weeds and invasive species from the garden beds to get them ready to grow fresh, new seedlings. Stay tuned to see what gets planted next!

Let’s do some trash-talking (the good kind) 🐚🌊

This September, help us give Madeira Beach some love - one bottle cap, one wrapper, one flip-flop at a time. Join MAR, the City of Madeira Beach, and the Ocean Conservancy for the 2026 International Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 19!

Here’s the plan:
📖 Meet other community members and learn about the impact ICC has globally
🥗 Fuel up with nourishing food & drinks from EDIBOWL + Gateway Subs St. Petersburg & Tampa
🧤 Comb the shoreline for marine debris (we’ve got gloves, buckets & grabbers covered)
📊 Turn what we find into data for the Ocean Conservancy’s global ICC effort. Yup, even that stray straw becomes part of a worldwide dataset fighting ocean pollution!

Come for the cleanup, stay for the community - everyone who registers enters a chance to win a Gateway Subs gift card just for showing up!

From alligators to herons to manatees, we were blown away by the talent and love for Florida’s native wildlife shown in every single entry. Choosing just 12 photos for our 2027 calendar was no easy task.

A huge thank you to our judging panel for their time and thoughtful eye in selecting this year’s winners, especially our guest judge, George McKenzie Jr George McKenzie Jr for lending his expertise to this year’s contest!

Huge congratulations to all of our winning photographers, and an even bigger thank you to everyone who entered this year. Your passion for Florida’s wild places is exactly what MAR is all about.
