Meet Tess and Penny.

Tess & Penny married in 2015 in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and years later, another coastal community managed to steal their hearts: Gulfport, Florida.

In 2024, Penny found work as a music teacher in St. Pete, they bought a house, and the two were ready to begin their new Florida chapter.

Then, one month after buying it, their new home flooded.

So much for the honeymoon period. Their entire first year here became about recovering and rebuilding their house, reclaiming some sense of normalcy, and, as they put it, trying to recover their sanity.

It would have been understandable to wonder whether they had made a terrible mistake. Instead, they looked around at the place they had already fallen in love with, the wonderful new friends they were making, and the community beginning to feel like home and decided it was worth fighting for.

There’s something beautifully appropriate about Tess & Penny renewing their vows at Bride Pride after a year like that. Because marriage vows are easy to understand when the sun is shining.
It’s when the water rises that you discover just how much “we’re in this together” really means.

Ten-plus years after marrying in the Outer Banks, Tess & Penny will stand together again, this time in the community they fought hard to call home.

Welcome home, again, Tess & Penny. We can’t wait to celebrate you at Bride Pride.

Rae & Kelly met at work in 2003 and, from the start, there was something different between them.

Rae, a Desert Storm veteran, had returned from her deployments carrying some difficult experiences and had learned to keep people at a distance. Then she met Kelly.

“She saw me through the broken pieces and the tough exterior. She didn’t back away. She pushed forward.”

Their friendship deepened over the next few years, even as both were navigating complicated lives of their own. Then, in 2006, shortly after Kelly gave birth to her son Connor, they shared one of those moments that changes everything. They hugged. For a very long time. Finally, Rae whispered, “I broke up with her.” Kelly whispered back, “I’m getting divorced.”

They have been together ever since. Immediately, theirs became a life centered around family. Together they raised three children - building a home where it didn’t matter if someone was troubled, different, struggling, or unwanted somewhere else. They were wanted here. They were loved here.

When marriage equality came to Florida in January 2015, Rae & Kelly wasted no time. They took the day off, grabbed a friend who could marry them and headed straight to the courthouse.

No wedding. No reception. No honeymoon.

Six times they talked about having the wedding or vow renewal they never got. Six times, life intervened.

And then Rae discovered Bride Pride. The timing felt almost impossible: she and Kelly had been talking about renewing their vows the night before.

This time, Rae says, she wants something to be different. After all these years of putting their children, their family and everyone they love first, she wants to put Kelly first. Because, in Rae’s words: “Without her, there would be no us, no me, no kids, no anything. She deserves this.”

And that may be all we really need to know. Bride Pride isn’t simply another vow renewal for Rae & Kelly. It’s the wedding celebration that life kept postponing.

After more than two decades of building a family and a life together, it is finally their turn to be surrounded, celebrated and cheered on.

Jean & Jane met at New York City Pride in June 1993.

And apparently, there wasn’t much suspense involved. They knew. Right then and there. This was it.

For the next year and a half, love meant commuting between Brooklyn and Connecticut until they finally closed the distance and made a waterfront condo in Stratford their first home together.

In 1999, with the love and support of their families behind them, they headed south to St. Petersburg, where they built a life, careers, and a wonderful circle of friends.

Then came their 25th anniversary in 2018.
By then, the law had finally caught up with Jean & Jane, so they celebrated in a BIG way: they got married at the Dalí Museum, surrounded by more than 150 family members and friends.

And these two have definitely not spent their years sitting still.

They’ve traveled the world together and have already visited all 63 U.S. National Parks. Every. Single. One. Now they’ve set their sights on a new mission: visiting all the Major League Baseball parks.

But first, there’s another important stop on the itinerary: Bride Pride.

More than three decades after two women found each other in the middle of New York City Pride, Jean & Jane will stand together in their adopted hometown and renew the vows of a love they somehow recognized from the very beginning.

1993: “This is it.”
2027: It still is. ❤️

We are beyond thrilled to announce that the extraordinary Lucie Blue Tremblay is joining Bride Pride St Pete as an Entertainment Sponsor.

And this one takes me back. There was a time, long before social media, before we could find our people with a click, when women's music was so much more than music. It was a lifeline. A signal. A promise.

For those of us emerging into the world as young le****ns, discovering women singing openly about women, about love, about who we were and the lives we might someday have, could feel absolutely revolutionary. It told us there were others out there. It told us there were places where we belonged.

And, maybe, most importantly, it gave us a glimpse of a future we hadn't quite learned how to imagine yet.

Lucie Blue Tremblay was one of those voices.I can still remember wearing out one of her albums, playing those songs again and again. At the time, I couldn't possibly have imagined that decades later Ilene and I would be producing the world's largest all-girl wedding and renewal ceremony - or that Lucie Blue Tremblay would become part of it.

Lucie's music has traveled with generations of women. Her unmistakable voice, warmth, humor and songs about love, connection and being fully yourself have made her an enduring and beloved part of women's music.

And now... Lucie Blue is coming to St. Pete. We're not quite ready to tell you everything yet. But if you happen to be in St. Petersburg during Winter Pride St Pete week, you might want to leave a little room in your calendar. Because there just might be an opportunity to spend an evening with Lucie Blue Tremblay, her guitar, her music and a room full of women who understand exactly why that is something special.

Lucie, thank you for the music. Thank you for being one of the voices that helped so many women find their people.

And thank you for joining us as we create a moment where hundreds of women will stand together, out in the Florida sunshine, and show the next generation something we once had to search a little harder to find.

They met a little later in life through an app - two strong-willed women, pretty set in their ways, and both a little skeptical that after all those years, “the one” was actually still out there.

And then they found each other.

Naturally, in what they describe as “veteran le***an fashion,” they were engaged within nine months and married just a year and a half after meeting.

They sometimes wish their paths had crossed sooner, simply because they would have had more years together.

But they also understand something beautiful about timing.

The lives they lived before each other mattered. Those years shaped them, taught them, grew them and ultimately made each woman exactly who she needed to be when the other finally arrived.

So maybe theirs isn’t a story about finding love late. Maybe it’s about finding love when you were finally ready to recognize it.

And they have no intention of wasting a minute of what comes next.

As they put it, they plan to “love each other intensely for every bit of the lifetime we have ahead.”

This February, they’ll renew that love at Bride Pride because they wanted their vows to be part of something bigger - hundreds of women standing together, publicly and joyfully celebrating the people they chose.

They may not have gotten all the years they wish they’d had. But they have each other now. And they intend to make every damn one of those years count.

Debbie & Susan met online 15 years ago. A few emails became phone calls, and almost immediately there was that unmistakable feeling: It was as though they’d known each other their whole lives.

There was just one complication. Debbie was in Texas. Susan was in Oklahoma and Susan was coming out of a 32-year marriage and beginning an enormous new chapter of her life.

Debbie was beside her every step of the way. Eventually Susan moved to Texas, they bought a home, built a business together and, when marriage equality finally made it possible, decided it was time to make it official.

On February 17, 2017, they married on Maui at sunset; just the two of them, with a whale breaching in the distance and a sea turtle swimming near shore.

Life would ask them to show up for each other in much harder ways, too. In 2021, Susan was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy. Through treatment and recovery, Debbie became her rock. Susan has now been in remission for several years.

In 2023, they retired to Florida, where life now includes the beach, plenty of Disney, and three dogs - big, medium and small, who are unquestionably running the household.

And this February, almost exactly 10 years after that Maui sunset, Debbie & Susan will renew their vows at Bride Pride.

They say they may have found each other later in life, but it was worth the wait.
And they’ve adopted a saying about finding someone whose particular brand of weirdness works beautifully with your own: "We are all a little weird, and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love." - Dr Seuss.

After 15 years together, we’d say these two found their perfectly compatible weird.

Happy 10th anniversary, Debbie & Susan. We can’t wait to celebrate the love, the life, and all that wonderful weirdness with you at Bride Pride.

Oh, this one is personal.

We are over-the-rainbow happy to announce that the incomparable Suede is joining Bride Pride St Pete as an Entertainment Sponsor...and she's coming to St. Petersburg!

If you've been part of the Bride Pride story from the beginning, you know why this means so much to us.

At our very first Bride Pride in Provincetown, Suede stood before our couples and sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

There are moments you remember. That is one of them.

Suede has one of those voices that doesn't simply fill a room, it reaches inside you. She's an extraordinary performer, a longtime and beloved member of our LGBTQ+ community, and an artist who has spent decades sharing her enormous talent, humor and heart with audiences around the country.

But to us? She's Suede. Our dear, dear friend. An amazing human. Someone who was there when Bride Pride was just beginning and who believed in the joy, visibility and beautiful audacity of what we were creating.

And now, all these years later, she's following Bride Pride from Provincetown to St. Petersburg.

We could cry. Okay, we probably did.
