For women who are incarcerated, writing becomes more than words on a page—it becomes a moment of dignity, reflection, and reclaiming one’s voice. In this space, they are not defined by their past, but honored for their humanity, resilience, and capacity to grow.

Write to Hope offers a pause from the noise. A place where women can sit with their thoughts, tell their truth, and remember who they are beneath the labels.

Hope begins here. One word at a time.

Through mindful writing, women who are incarcerated are given space to reflect, heal, and be heard.

Write to Hope exists to remind you: your voice matters.

"If You Let Me
Whatever you think, I’m not my crime.
No matter where I am, my heart will shine.
You don’t have to believe it because I know it’s true;
even if you treat me poorly, I’ll be kind to you.
God doesn’t like ugly, so I pray for you.
Darkness in the heart will always come to light.
Only you can change yourself and make it right.
Not sure why it’s so hard; you shouldn’t put up a fight.
Let God’s beauty shine through like the stars in the night."

Jelly Roll made a surprise visit, ahead of his concert, to the Hennepin County Jail, in Minneapolis, where WRITE TO HOPE conducts its mindful writing workshops. Jelly Roll shared his story of redemption and hope with inmates by discussing how he turned his life around to be a better father, emphasizing that jail time can be a time for positive change, not waste.
