This week's meeting brought the St Paul Lions a new member! Welcome aboard, Luke!

We also enjoyed a presentation from Rebuilding Together Minnesota! Rebuilding Together's mission is repairing homes, revitalizing communities, rebuilding lives. They serve low-income homeowners who are seniors, individuals living with disabilities, families with children, and veterans and their families in need. They also serve nonprofit facilities in need of repairs.

Since 1997, they've been working year-round to sustain healthy neighborhoods and ensure that people in need can live independently and safely in their homes.

If you or someone you know needs help with critical home repairs or accessibility needs, you can apply for assistance with Rebuilding Together here: https://rtmn.org/apply-for-help/

Science shows that being of service not makes for a healthier community, but for a healthier body and mind!

5️⃣ key insights:

🪽The "Helper's High" is Real! Acts of kindness trigger feel-good chemicals in the brain that lift mood and reduce stress.

🌟Small Acts = Big Impact! Doing simple deeds for neighbors can reduce loneliness and anxiety.

🧠Helping Keeps You Sharp! Those who make service a habit may experience a slower rate of cognitive decline.

💖Connect to Protect! People with strong social ties have a lower risk of heart disease and stroke.

⏰The Sooner the Better! Start volunteering earlier in life for greater long-term rewards.

Visiting a St Paul Lions Club meeting is a great place to learn how you can be of service to your community! Our next meeting is on March 23rd at 5pm, at Davanni's Pizza and Hot Hoagies. Or feel free to message us if you'd like to join an upcoming Lions volunteer outing!

Read more about the Science of Service in Lion Magazine:

You know the feeling. You pull on your Lions gear, maybe still yawning from the night before or shaking off a long day at the office. But the moment you arrive at a service project, roll up your sleeves and start connecting with others, something shifts. The tiredness fades, your mood lifts and a su...

In 2025 a great partnership came to fruition when Keystone Community Services launched a new Foodmobile that regularly provides food to people in need, in their neighborhoods. Under the leadership of the St. Paul Lions (formerly Midway Lions) funds were raised to purchase the vehicle, retrofit it for this unique purpose and equip it with a freezer, cooler, shelves and other necessities to make it easier for people to obtain food from the Keystone Food Shelf.

Funding for the Foodmobile was provided through a major grant from the Lions Club International Foundation, with additional funds provided by several area Lions clubs, Keystone Community Services, along with individual supporters. The St. Paul; Vadnais Heights; North Ramsey 500; Falcon Heights/Lauderdale; New Brighton; and Roseville Lions supported the project.

The funding is just part of the Lions’ commitment to helping people obtain food security. The Lions are regularly scheduled to help distribute food at the Rice Street Library and are supporting the ongoing operating costs.

This is just one example of how the Lions are helping to improve our communities. If you are interested in making a difference and would like to join us, send us a note at [email protected]!
