“You have too many plants and nobody to talk to about them. Same.

So once a month I get a room full of women together at La Doña for houseplant bingo. We call out plants instead of numbers, you win real plants, and you come alone and leave with a group text.

The first time, I knew maybe four people. By the end there were numbers being traded over a monstera.

The plants are just the excuse. Come find your people — Tuesday, August 26.

Peel a cold tangerine on a hot day and pay attention to what happens.

You rip the skin. The scent hits. And here's the part most people miss: it stays. Seven, maybe ten minutes after you've walked away, someone can step into that exact spot and know. Someone opened an orange here.

That's not a fun fact. That's the whole company.

Because I didn't name it Citrus & Co. because I thought the fruit was cute. I named it after what the fruit DOES. It leaves something behind. You feel it in a room long after the person is gone.

That's what the right gathering does to you.

You walk in a stranger. You leave with a couple of numbers in your phone and a feeling that follows you home, into the next day, into the parking lot where you sit for a second before you drive off because something shifted and you can't quite name it.

The event is the orange. The feeling that stays is the whole point.

Tag the woman who leaves that scent in every room she walks into. You know exactly who she is.

The hardest part is deciding to go by yourself. Everything after that is easy.

Plant Bingo by Citrus & Co. We call plants instead of numbers. You play, you talk, you win, you leave with plants and usually a new number in your phone. Nobody performs. You never needed to have brought a person.
