she worked until seven, fought minneapolis traffic, and still walked into a room where she knew no one.....
not because it was easy, but because she loves books, and she decided that not having someone to come with was not going to keep her home.

here is the part nobody tells you..... the bravest thing already happened at the door. the rest is my job.

i watched the women at that table pull out a chair before she could even finish her sentence. they asked where she was from, what she does, who she is.

that is the whole promise. i build the room. you make the friends.

That's exactly why this bus exists. In the Twin Cities, women have boarded alone, walked into bookstore after bookstore together, and gotten off with a stack of books and a group text. EVERY ride. It's not luck. It's the design.

Now, for the first time ever, the Book Bus is leaving Minnesota. And Kansas City, you're first.

BOARDING: 10:50 AM sharp. Your exact pickup address arrives by email the day before.

DEPARTURE: 11:00 AM. Late arrivals cannot board.

RETURN: About 4:30 PM

POLICIES
- Every rider completes the required waivers before boarding
- Refunds are available up to 36 hours before departure. Inside 36 hours, you can transfer to an event of equal or lesser value.

Can I tell you something I don't say out loud much?

For years I was the woman who could walk into anything and read it in seconds. Who was in, who was on the outside, where the energy was stuck. I could read all of it. And I still got missed in every single room.

Then I'd go home lonely. In a city where the friend groups were already full and nobody was exactly looking to add one more. (Anyone who landed here as an adult knows that particular ache.)

Here's what I finally understood. I was waiting to be picked. And nobody was coming.

So I stopped waiting and started building rooms of my own.

That's what Citrus & Co. actually is. Not an event. A room built on purpose for the woman scanning the edges, wondering if she'll have anyone to talk to. She walks in alone. She leaves with PEOPLE.

I didn't invent this. I learned it years ago at my dad's dinner table. The right room does the connecting on its own. Your only job is to set it well.
