May 11 Update on Rice Street Reconstruction 🚧

💡 Remember to take the extra time to support your favorite local businesses during construction. Businesses remain open and need your support! 🛍️

🚙 The Rice Street and Maryland Avenue intersection is open to east-west traffic, left and right turns from Maryland Avenue to Rice Street remain closed.

❌ Rice Street from just south of Maryland Avenue to just north of Atwater Street is closed.

↪️ Please continue to follow posted signage and detour routes.

❌ Monday, May 11 the intersection of Front Avenue, a key east west crossing, will be closed for 2 days. Crews will be replacing underground water utilities.

👷‍♀️ The week of May 11 crews will start preparing the Rice Street and Pennsylvania Avenue intersection for construction. Throughout the week, you can expect to see pavement removals and signal changes as crews get ready to shift the intersection south to complete work north of the intersection. The intersection shift will take place the week of May 18.

❌ The Pennsylvania Avenue intersection will remain open to east-west traffic throughout this work, but access to Rice Street from Pennsylvania Avenue will be closed beginning the week of May 18. Traffic control will help drivers navigate the area.

👉 Access Rice Street businesses via Park Street, Woodbridge Street, and Albermarle Street. Please follow posted signage.

Ramsey County and Saint Paul are reconstructing Rice Street from 2025-2027, improving safety and accessibility. The project reduces lanes, adds a shared path, and enhances transit services across three construction phases.

Yesterday our youth ambassadors Kathy and Valentine attended the North End Neighborhood Organization - District 6 annual meeting event and got a chance to meet our Mayor Kaohly Her, neighborhood and city leaders and Commissioner Garrison McMurtrey! They learned about lead pipe replacement project from St Paul Regional Water Services and road construction on Rice Street from Ramsey County Public Works. We were inviting our community to join RLA Community In Bloom on May 16! 🌼
