Recently, ICE has signed a deal to reopen private Prairie Correctional Facility in Appleton, MN. This pulls into question, how much more ICE activity can we see now with this facility opening?

Local organizers in Appleton, MN have started a weekly protest, every Thursday from 5-6:30pm at the Flags of Honor Site, gathering in opposition to the incoming ICE detention center, and they invite you to join.

CoreCivic, which owns the 1,600 bed Prairie Correctional Facility has been awarded a contract to hold detainees.

On March 31, an executive order was signed proposing the use of existing federal databases to help states verify voter eligibility and introducing new standards for how the U.S. Postal Service handles mail-in ballots. The order has since been challenged over legal and voting rights concerns.

Future of Us will continue monitoring developments and sharing updates on voting rights and election access.

Last week, we wrapped up our four-part Summer Wellness Series with Hmong American Partnership (HAP). We were grateful to welcome Ka Zoua Soul Ya Yoga back and hold space for healing and wellness.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. One of the most meaningful things we can do is choose to care for ourselves and one another. Your presence, your breath, and your willingness to show up made this series truly special.

We look forward to creating more opportunities for healing, connection, and growth together.
