The Midway Nest is a future space in the burgeoning Hamline-Midway neighborhood of Saint Paul, Minnesota. This organization could serve as an anchor space for the Midway community, which currently lacks a focal space for social gatherings and community-building. The Midway Nest would unite the Midway neighborhood around food - something that can unite people and harbor an increased sense of commun
ity and togetherness in our neighborhood. Our group envisions a space with:
-a community gathering/meeting space for neighborhood groups and their members;
-a bakery or cafe where community members can grab a bite to eat and socialize;
-a local food magnet - a central place where CSA drop-offs can be coordinated, and local growers can distribute their produce;
-a commercial kitchen space that affords small food entrepreneurs an area to craft and market their products;
-and finally, a meal center which unites residents regardless of age, race, or income level. The future of the Hamline-Midway neighborhood is bright. The Midway Nest hopes to play a central role in creating an even more inter-connected, welcoming, and vibrant community centered around food.
