Why orange? 🧡

We wear orange for the lives forever changed by gun violence.
For the families carrying unimaginable grief.
For the survivors who continue showing up with courage.
For the communities demanding better.

Orange represents the value of every human life — and a future where fewer families experience this pain.

Share with us why you will wear orange this year?

Don’t forget to join us Sunday, June 7 for our Interfaith Vigil & Community Gathering!

Gun violence impacts every kind of community — every age, every neighborhood, every faith tradition. That’s why coming together matters. Join us in coming together next Sunday for an evening of remembrance, reflection, and community connection during Wear Orange Weekend.

There is power in showing up.
There is power in saying their names.
There is power in refusing to accept this as normal.
We will see you there!

Reaching out matters — and seeking help when you need it can save lives. 💚

Sometimes that help looks like making a safety plan.

That might include asking someone you trust to hold onto your fi****ms temporarily or using voluntary safe firearm storage options during periods of crisis or mental health challenges.

Creating distance between a person and a firearm can help ensure difficult moments are temporary, not permanent.

If you or someone you love could benefit from temporary, voluntary firearm storage, visit Voluntary Firearm Storage in Minnesota to find participating locations and resources near you. 🔗 Link in our bio.

This Memorial Day, we honor the lives and sacrifices of those who served our country — and we also have to confront a heartbreaking reality: an average of 6,400 veterans die by firearm su***de each year.

Remembering their service cannot end when they come home. One of the most important ways we can thank veterans for their sacrifice is by making sure they don’t die by gun violence once their service is over.

Support matters. Safe firearm storage matters. Checking in matters. Access to mental health care matters. ❤️🤍💙

A few days ago the House GOP advanced H.R. 1041, a legislation that would weaken the federal background check system by removing certain Veterans Affairs records from the NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System).

So, what does this mean? The bill would allow veterans previously deemed unable to manage their own affairs by the VA to purchase fi****ms again – even in moments of crisis. This is critcal because it comes at a time when veteran su***de remains a serious public health issue. More than 6,400 vetrans die by su***de each year in the United States.

We know here in Minnesota, 85 people – 20% of all firearm su***de deaths in our state – were veterans, according to our 2025 Lethal Gun Violence Fact Sheet.

This bill now heads to the Senate to be hard in committee and we urge you to express your opinion on H.R. 1041, by contacting your Senators today and stay informed on the bill's progress at www.congress.gov.

On Monday this week, Minnesota’s Legislative session came to an end – but our fight to prevent gun violence is far from over.

We are so incredibly proud of the advocates, survivors, young people, and community members who SHOWED up again and again this session to demand action and push for policies that save lives. Your voices were LOUD and they mattered in every room, every rally, every sing-in, and every conversation.

While we made progress, we are deeply disappointed that Speaker Demuth did not have the courage to bring this legislation to a vote on SF4067. Minnesotans deserve leadership, and families deserve action – they had the power to do both.

Let this be clear: WE ARE NOT DONE FIGHTING!

Over the next few months, we’ll continue organizing, advocating, and making sure every candidate understand the weight of their decisions on guns and the real-life consequences communities face every single day.

We hope you’ll join us! Learn more about how you can get involved with Protect Minnesota by sending us a DM or on our website, link in bio. 🔗

Healing happens in community.

A text to a friend.
A walk with someone you trust.
A support group.
A rally full of people fighting for change together.

In Minnesota, su***de remains the leading form of gun death.* That's why caring for ourselves and each other matters so deeply. Checking in. Reaching out. Creating like minded communities. Advocating for policies that protect people in moments of crisis. These are ALL acts of care.

Connection reminds us that hope still exists – even on the hard days.

Share with us in the comments below how you practice self care, and remember that IT MATTERS.
