We are sponsored by the Durbin Creek Elementary PTO and were founded along with the school in 2001. The Pack is very active. In addition to our monthly Pack meetings and Den meetings, we have a number of outside activities. Activities consist of family camping, conservation and community service, sports, and other fun stuff. Every year we have one "big" overnight field trip; past years have inclu
ded the Kennedy Space Center, Disney's Ft. Wilderness, Daytona Speedway, the USS Yorktown, sleeping with the Fishes at the Tampa Aquarium and SeaWorld. We believe that Cub Scouting, as the introduction to Boy Scouts, is one of the most worthwhile outside activities a boy can participate in with their family. Scouting, unlike other activities, is totally family centered, with adult involvement not only encouraged but required. Scouts receive a very well-rounded program, incorporating everything from sports, crafts, outdoor activities, camping, nature and conservation, and citizenship. Scouting also fosters teamwork, with the boys working together on projects ranging from putting together skits to community clean ups. Scouting Builds Character
Most people have heard of the Boy Scout Motto...Be Prepared...and Cub Scouts leads up to the independence of Boy Scouting. We ask Cubs to live by the Motto of "Do Your Best", recognizing that we all excel in some areas and need help in others, but that gaining experience and trying your hardest to succeed means that you become a better person. Scouting Is a Family Activity
At all levels of Cub Scouting, parent participation is required. You will work with your son on achievements, both individually and with your group. Camping is always family camping, where parents and siblings are invited to participate in the activities (the exception to this is Webelos Camping, where Webelos are allowed to go without their parents under the supervision of trained adult leadership). Parents and siblings can attend every event. Scouting Is Year Round
While the Pack and Den meetings are during the school year for Cubs, the Pack hosts activities during the summer as well. Last year's summer events consisted of our Raingutter Regatta and Picnic, Pizza Party and Bowling and a Day at the Pool.
