Develop partnerships and engage comprehensive community initiatives that will improve the quality of life by reversing the effects of poverty, create housing opportunities, empower youth, develop leaders, and strengthen resources for senior populations A referral process is utilized to create a partnership between various service organizations whereby clients receive the resources readily availabl
e and specific to their need. With a very active board, programs are facilitated by board members, volunteers, and future staff. Participants are required to complete an application or registration form that includes income information and area of need or service requested. The board of directors has identified four areas of service of which Embrace180 will focus:
1. Senior Crossroads is an advocacy program serving those 60+. Our goal is to allow seniors a place to seek assistance for basic and complex needs. The needs and finances of seniors are diverse, requiring a hands-on approach to assess and ensure seniors are provided the support necessary to live a healthy, independent life. Scams against seniors are on the rise and our volunteers have already provided assistance through research, preparation and attending court with the victims. It is an intimidating process for seniors who have no one else to assist with preparation and/or presentation, especially for seniors with disabilities. For seniors looking for employment or volunteer opportunities, partnerships with area businesses allow for the networking and placing of seniors. For those seniors that have been out of the workforce for a while, training, resume assistance and networking is available. Emergency assistance such as home repairs, or much needed medical equipment is conditional for many seniors to continue living on their own. Program funding along with partnerships from local contractors, trade schools and retail stores, allow for the donation of materials and labor to install or make repairs necessary for independent living. Clients will complete an application and selection will be determined based on the cost of the project, donations, and contractor commitment.
2. Elevate Transitional Housing is a housing program for seniors, pregnant women, and at-risk individuals. This program assists with safe and adequate housing while requiring participates to attend a series of classes that teach self-sufficiency, addiction recovery, parenting and job training skills. Participates will partner with volunteer mentors that will guide them through the transition to a healthy and successful life. Clients must participate in the series of steps that lead to self-sufficiency to remain in the program. Clients will have the opportunity to volunteer at the Embrace Grace Soup Kitchen. Partnerships with area contractors and business to provide job training and employment will allow clients the ability to gain skills necessary to become successful. Clients will complete an application for the program. Selection is on a first come or emergency basis.
3. Embrace Grace Soup Kitchen provides an evening meal to low-income and need based individuals. Food insecurity can be caused from lack of access or poverty. Regardless, our goal is to ensure we are doing everything possible to fill the hunger gaps. Participants will sign in allowing for the trackability of services. Donations are accepted but will not be required for participants. Food supplies will come from program funding, partnerships with local grocery stores, food banks, donations and grant funding.
4. Genuine Reflections Teaches youth they are valuable and strong while empowering each to become leaders. This after school program provides hands on learning activities to boost self-esteem and enhance confidence while engaging students in leadership programs. Students will participate in field trips, volunteer opportunities, community leadership programs and job skills training.
