Glacier Lake School offers learners aged 4-18 the freedom and space to pursue their curiosity, passion and talent within a supportive, caring environment. Self directed learning allows the students to choose what they want to learn when they want to learn it. Students are part of a democratic system where they all have an equal voice in the daily running of their lives and their community. What st
rengthens the whole premise of self-directed learning, democracy and justice within our learning community is the underlying importance of students mixing freely within all age groups. Influenced by many democratic-free models including the Sudbury Valley school, Glacier Lake School students develop the key skills needed for the fast changing world around us. Public schools control the curriculum and the students, forcing them to take standardized tests, give homework and emphasize grades. Glacier Lake school gives the control back to the kids, making them confident, happy children.
