🇺🇸 Memorial Day Ceremony at Bluff City Cemetery – Monday, May 25 🇺🇸

Join the community at 11:00 a.m. at Bluff City Cemetery (945 Bluff City Blvd., Elgin) for one of Elgin’s longest‑standing Memorial Day traditions, held annually since 1868.

This year’s program will pay special tribute to the 250th Anniversary of the United States with a focus on the Revolutionary War. Our chapter’s Regent, Christine Harmon, will serve as the keynote speaker.

The ceremony will also feature the Elgin Master Chorale, the Elgin High School Band, a roll call of deceased veterans, a rifle salute, and the playing of Taps.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair due to limited seating.

🚍 Free shuttle service will be available from the main gate and east gate.
📻 The event will be broadcast live on WRMN 1410 AM.

All are welcome as we honor the true meaning of Memorial Day.

Last call for Flag Day Posters to be submitted by May 1st at 5pm. You can drop off your America 250 themed poster for the annual Flag Day Celebration at the Batavia Police Department. Look for the marked table in the lobby. Show your Sestercentennial Spirit!! 🇺🇸

Happy Earth Day! 🌎

Our chapter regularly participates in many conservation initiatives, including recycling broken and unwanted crayons, greeting cards, and so much more. ♻️

We also collect plastic bread tags, caps, prescription bottles, and metal pop tabs, keeping them out of landfills. These items are then donated to other non-profits who are able to recycle them and earn funds to support their initiatives.

Along with the Shabbona-Beeler Society of the Children of the American Revolution, we have also participated in an annual cleanup of the Fox River. 🐟

Join in on the spirit of America 250!

The annual Flag Day Committee is making preparations for this year's Celebration that coincides with the 250th Anniversary of America's Independence. There will be a couple of contests for this 250th year. One will be a poster contest open to all. Further details will be coming soon.

The second will an essay contest open to Batavia area High School students. Details are listed in the flyer below.

Despite the cold and snowy weather conditions in Elwood, IL this morning, our chapter was happy to participate in Wreaths Across America again this year. It is always such a meaningful experience to honor and remember our veterans.
