Our Secretary & Board Member, Kira Donnelly, MPO, L/CPO, is hard at work at Range of Motion Project (ROMP) in Quito, Ecuador!

Introducing. . . Angela Morgan, PT, DPT! ✨

Angela is a Board Member for Steps4Love, a contributing faculty member for USAHS, and has years of experience being a therapist at HRMC! She's also been a national conference speaker at the Amputee Coalition and at CSM!

Angela currently works at the Madison VA as their Amputee Clinical Specialist in Madison, Wisconsin!

She loves being a part of S4L because, as an amputee herself, she has a passion for helping those like me in any way possible!

Now it's time to learn who Angela is beyond her impressive online bio!

Here are a few facts you might not know:
— She’s originally from Wisconsin! (& moved back a few years ago!) She's a mom of two boys and a Green Bay Packers fan! 🏈

— She loves gardening and has her own orchid & veggie garden! 🌱

— She's a self-proclaimed "complete and total nerd" when it comes to board games, playing instruments, and partaking in Dungeons & Dragons!

Something important to understand about your prosthesis:

— SWELLING IS NORMAL!

Why? Because your tissues are healing, and fluctuations in fluid retention can cause on-and-off swelling. You may experience swelling for a while, especially in the beginning of wearing your prosthesis, but don't worry!

This is normal, and overtime the swelling will subside as your tissues heal and your body gets accustomed to your prosthetic limb.

is making STRIDES all over! 👣

This picture is from the Amputee Coalition National Conference, and Dr. Love is pictured with Mehra, an amputee with a unique residual limb, called a rotationplasty.

A rotationplasty is a specialized surgical procedure where the middle part of a leg is removed, and the lower leg is rotated 180 degrees and reattached so that the ankle joint acts as a knee!

The patient can fit their backward foot into a specialized prosthetic limb, functioning like a below-the-knee amputation rather than a higher-level above-knee amputation.

Our Steps4Love Secretary & Board Member, Kira Donnelly, had her research, "Assessing Ground Reaction Forces and Degenerative Changes of Sound Limb in Unilateral Lower Extremity Amputees: A Systematic Review" selected as one of the featured articles by the AS Orthopedic Journal for its high caliber and informative presentation!

Kira completed her Master's of Prosthetics and Orthotics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Her passion for the amputee community and commitment to serving are inspiring!

Kira was joined by Dr. Scott Love, our Founder & VP, as an associate and supervising researcher! We are so incredibly proud of both of you and thankful to have you on the Steps4Love team!

Introducing. . . Kira Donnelly, MPO, L/CPO! ✨

Kira is the Steps4Love Secretary, one of our Board Members, and the recipient of the 2024 ABC O&P Scholarship!

She became a part of Steps4Love because she wanted to serve a community she felt was often overlooked/dismissed within the broader medical field, and she has brought her passion for service and awareness to further our mission!

BUT. . . who is Kira behind-the-scenes?

Here are a few fun facts:
— She moved to South Texas a year ago to help launch an independent pediatric O&P clinic. A month ago, her, her now-husband, and their dog went on three-week road trip across the West, ending in Grand Teton National Park, where they eloped! 💕

— She used to play in a competitive pool league (9-ball was & still is her game!) 🎱

— She's originally from the Chicago area, makes her own homemade sourdough, and enjoys hunting, fishing, baking, and painting in her free time!
