We are a long-standing, volunteer-led community dedicated to advancing high standards in music education throughout the region. Founded in 1912

Our branch has offered recitals, festivals, and programs that nurture the growth of both students and teachers.

Our members have been asking for more resources and education around teaching students with special needs, and we’re excited to welcome Sarah Sandvig for a special presentation on Friday, October 9 from 10:15–11:30 AM on Zoom.

Sarah will share practical insight and strategies for working with students who may learn, communicate, process, or engage differently in the music studio.

Professional development is an important part of what we do at the MTAC Sacramento County Branch, and we especially love being able to offer programs in direct response to what our members tell us they need.

Registration is now open for the MTAC Sacramento County Branch Fall Harvest Recital on Sunday, October 25 from 2:00–4:00 PM.

Branch recitals give students the chance to prepare, perform, celebrate their progress, and share their music with a supportive community.

The Fall Harvest Recital is open to students of MTAC Sacramento County Branch members, and families can register directly through our website.

Private music teachers: who do you turn to when you have a question about teaching, your studio, or an opportunity for a student? 🎶

Teaching can be surprisingly solitary. You spend your days supporting students and families—but having a professional community to support you matters, too.

That’s what we want the MTAC Sacramento County Branch to be.

Our members connect through professional development, Certificate of Merit, student recitals and events, teaching resources, and—just as importantly—a local community of fellow music educators who understand the work you do.

Whether you have questions about applications, deadlines, evaluations, repertoire, the Teacher Portal, or something else entirely, this is a chance to get answers and connect with fellow teachers.

There’s lots happening this fall with the MTAC Sacramento County Branch! 🍂🎶

Coming up, our members can connect and get support with Certificate of Merit, join us for a special presentation on teaching children with special needs, and give their students an opportunity to perform in our Fall Harvest Recital.

These are just a few of the ways our Branch supports local music teachers through professional development, resources, community, and opportunities for their students.

Your policies set the tone for how your studio runs. When they’re clear and consistent, they reduce friction, support professionalism, and make day-to-day teaching smoother.

🎶 Memorial Scholarship Competition Recital

We’re pleased to announce open registration for the 2026 Memorial Scholarship Recital, an adjudicated competition recital recognizing students for both artistry and preparation.

Students will perform refined repertoire, compete for scholarship awards, and may be selected for the June Command Performance.

Participation is open to students of MTAC teachers performing CM Level 5+ repertoire.
