Troy Fitzgerald, director of the Religion Program at Union Adventist University, is challenging what he describes as fear-based predictions about young people leaving the church.

In a recent university video, Fitzgerald recalled hearing claims that as many as 70% of young Adventists would eventually leave and said he wanted instead to identify what churches and schools could do to encourage young people in their faith.

Middle East University (MEU) in Lebanon and Southern Adventist University (SAU) in Tennessee have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop new academic pathways between the two Adventist institutions.

The agreement, signed October 8, 2026, by MEU President Carlos Biaggi and SAU President Ken Shaw, could allow students in approved programs to complete one or two years at MEU before transferring to SAU to finish their bachelor’s degrees.

Qualified students admitted through those pathways would also be eligible for a 40% tuition discount at SAU, with psychology and chemistry among the first programs being considered.

More than 300 pastors, administrators and church leaders from the Southwestern Philippine Union Conference (SwPUC) gathered September 27–30, 2026 in Cagayan de Oro City for the union’s 2026 Biblical and Theological Conference.

Under the theme “Committed to Our Identity,” speakers addressed questions ranging from salvation and holiness to Revelation, the sanctuary and stewardship.

AIIAS professor Donny Chrissutianto specifically examined Last Generation Theology, warning against interpretations that reduce salvation to external legalism, while Biblical Research Institute Associate Director Clinton Wahlen addressed prophecy and the close of probation.

Following the resignation of Joshua Soon Gi-Kang, president of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD), in response to an investment scandal rocking the Korean Union, General Conference (GC) Executive Committee members elected Kim SunHwan to take up the leadership role during Annual Council on Tuesday, October 13. Kim, who has prior administrative experience in the division and internationally, will seek to re-establish stability in the region.
